Can you bypass the USB settings to get to your pictures?

My Samsung Galaxy S6 got slammed by my nephew's ball and now the phone screen won't work! The phone works perfectly fine, I still receive messages and my alarms go off, but my LED screen won't turn on, it remains black. I want to retrieve my picture but I believe I left my phone on the wrong mode to USB transfer to my P.C. Is there anyway to bypass this and hack into my phone settings from my computer in order to retrieve my pictures? My situation is different because I cannot access my phone screen in order to make the USB mode change that allows me to transfer picture files to my computer. I have tried: I have tried plugging in my phone via USB to my PC, and selecting the option "file transfer" when asked what to do with this device. But since my phone is not in file transfer mode I cannot access my photos. I think it was caused by: The inability to access my screen because it won't produce an image. I think I might be able to select items still but I have no idea what I am pressing anymore!
