Samsung S5 fingerprint security?

Don't know my alternative password for turning off fingerprint security in Samsung S5, how can I turn it off?

Ad

Your alternative password should be the same as the password you use with your Google account. If you can't remember it, you'll need to reset your device to factory default settings. A guide for how to do so can be found here: Perform a factory reset on Android Device.

I am trying to use fingerprint scanning for Samsung S5 security?

The only option I have to lock screen is password. It says the fingerprint is turned off by administrator or encryption policy. Do I need to decrypt to use fingerprint recognition?

Yes, you have to decrypt the SD card to use less secure methods of unlocking the device. We have a tutorial on how to decrypt microSD card on Galaxy devices. Additionally, you may still face the problem with other options being greyed out. To fix that, press the home button. Go to "Apps" > "Settings" > "Security" (in "Accounts") > "Device Administrators". Remove all of the applications there. Press the back button and tap on "Clear credentials" at the bottom.

PIN not working after turning off fingerprint lock?

I was using the fingerprint lock, and decided to go to a PIN lock instead. I know I am entering the PIN correctly, but the phone tells me it is incorrect. Is there any way to unlock it without a Factory Reset?
