Retrieving data from Galaxy S4 with ADB disabled?

My screen is not responding on my Galaxy S4, so I cannot enter the pattern to unlock it. When I connect it to my computer it won't read the phone because the screen is still locked.

If you have previously enabled ADB on your Samsung Galaxy S4, then you should be able to access your device. Have you tried restarting, or performing a soft reset, by holding down the power button until the device restarts? A Soft reset will close any other applications that may be causing your touch screen to malfunction, and this may let you restart without using the ADB or possibly needing to reset your device.

Once you've done that, you can follow the steps in our guide for how to unlock your Android pattern or password using ADB. This will let you regain access to your device, but if you are still unable to access it, you can try other steps listed in the guide just linked above.
