Retrain Voice Command Model on HTC One M8
Edited by Thor, Rushell, Eng
Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to retrain the voice model used to give voice commands on an HTC One M8.
To begin, let's turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen, hold down until two padlock icons appear, then swipe up.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen.
At the bottom, we will see several icons. Now, we need to find the Settings menu, and to do that, we need to swipe the Notification Panel down.
Press down at the top of the screen, hold down, and swipe down.
Now, we can see that the Notification Panel has appeared.
We want the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
There is a white cog icon, and this is our Settings icon. Press down on this, and it will open up the Settings menu.
The word "Settings" will appear at the top left-hand corner of the screen.
Now, let's scroll down to the "PHONE" section.
It says the word "PHONE" in the gray bar.
In that section, scroll down to "Language & keyboard".
Next to these words is an icon that shows a capital "A" inside a 3D box.
Press down on "Language & keyboard", and it will open that menu.
Next, we want to tap on "Google voice typing".
Once in that menu, we are looking for ""OK Google" detection", so press down on that.
It will then bring us to the "OK Google" detection menu.
We want to retrain the voice model, which means we want to replace it with a new one. Perhaps we've borrowed the phone, or this phone is second-hand. We may want to change the voice model, so we can use the voice commands. Perhaps our voice has changed, or we want to change this for whatever reason. To do this, we must have first actually made a voice model. This means setting up the "OK Google" function. If this has not been set up yet, search for a video tutorial on how to do that on this website. Check that out to learn how to do that. This needs to be done first in order for us to create a voice module, and then we can actually retrain.
To retrain, we're going to press down on "Retrain voice model" located under ""OK Google" Voice Model" in blue text.
Now, it will bring up this option, "Voice search on any screen".
The message at the bottom of the screen reads, "Say "OK Google" to search even when your device is locked or while using your favourite app".
Press down on "GET STARTED" at the bottom of the screen.
Then it will ask us to say "OK Google" three times.
Let's do that.
"OK Google. OK Google. OK Google"
Now, it says "You're all set!".
It has been successful. The idea is that it really captures the way I say it. Everyone speaks differently with their own dialect and style. It is very good and useful for the phone to recognize your voice, as it stops other people from being able to access your phone.
It says, "Your phone can now:
Recognize your voice when you say "OK Google"" It can also "Respond to "OK Google" whenever the screen is on or the device is charging".
To complete the process, press the word "FINISH" in blue text at the bottom of the screen.
We have now successfully retrained our voice model.
This concludes our tutorial on how to retrain the voice model used to give voice commands on an HTC One M8.
