Problems removing the "hands-free activation" notice on Samsung Note4?

I am trying to get rid of the "hands-free activation" notice that comes on when powering up my phone. I have an unlocked Samsung Note4 N910P running Android 6.0.1. I tried to download the kingroot for windows, and it was in Mandarin (I believe), as per Eman's VisiHow post on the subject (get King Root for Windows and plug phone into my laptop). So that was no good. So I tried the app for Android right on my phone. That stopped with "device failed to root." Any suggestions of what to do now. I am uncertain about continuing with the king root app. . . Thanks, Shelley. I followed the article as far as I could but encountered problems that were not covered in the article. I have tried: I have tried 3 or 4 other approaches to rooting and renaming the apk file, solution found on the internet; none worked. I think it was caused by: I don't know why the phone wouldn't root; if I did, I probably could solve the problem myself.
