Further Ways to Increase Traffic to a Blog

  1. 1
Improve the quality of your blog's content
    .
If you manage more than one blog, and you do a lot of redirecting, you still need to make sure that you maintain good quality on all blogs. If you are able to redirect your audience once to your other blog successfully, it does not mean that they will stay. If they are not satisfied with what they've seen in the other blog, there is still a high likelihood that they will not visit it again. What you want to do is redirect them, but at the same time encourage them to keep on visiting both sites because they have found some really useful information.

  2. 2
Make each of your sites or blog unique
    .
Redirecting is good if you intend to eventually close down one blog and just maintain the newer one. In which case, you are using this process to introduce to your existing audience your other blog. However, if you intend to keep both sites, you need to make sure that both of them are actually unique. If, for example, you redirected your current audience to your other blog, and it's almost the same as the current one, there is actually no need for them to move. Eventually, what will happen is they will just select to keep visiting one, not the other. Therefore, you lose audience in one and you gain in the other. What you would like to happen is create two different blogs and redirect them there just to get their attention. Once you have accomplished this, encourage them to keep visiting both by offering new and fresh interesting content.

  3. 3
Maintain a good level of interaction
    .
Audiences like it when they feel that a site is active enough that their visiting it, somehow offers something or changes the blog. If they leave comments as they get redirected, make sure you respond to them in a timely fashion. Allow other users to interact with each other as well.

  4. 4
    Provide updated information
    .
Make your audience yearn to read your blog everyday because you are always offering them something fresh and new. Keep yourself updated with the latest trends, what people are reading, and what's big in the news. Be unique by taking a newsworthy story, and looking for a different angle., instead of covering it the same way countless others are covering.

  5. 5
Avoid using too many links on your site
    .
If you keep citing too many links to other sites, the site will seem untrustworthy, as sites that are prone to spreading viruses or have links to untrustworthy sites, look too busy like that. If you need to redirect them, it's okay, but do not fill the page with too many links.

A good number of people using the internet are visual people. Therefore, if you post great pictures on your blog, it will help capture their attention.

Questions and Answers

Redirection of blogger blog , help me with it?

I have a Blogger site which has a custom domain which I want to move one old domain to new. Let's pretend this is old-domain.com and new-domain.com.

I want to:

Preserve my search engine ranking as much as possible;

If any link to a page has the previous domain in the URL and is clicked on, it will redirect to corresponding page with the new, correct domain. (For example, www.old-domain.com/existing-page.html should redirect to www.new-domain.com/existing-page.html.)

Does anyone know how I would go about this?

This is totally possible to do. You can maintain the old URL as the one that your audience will go to. What you need to do is ask your website host to create a communication between the old and the new site so that once a user clicks on the old site, they will automatically be redirected to the new site.
