Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to explain how to prevent a child, or a stranger, from making purchases from the Microsoft App Store when using a Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, we're going to turn on the phone by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the screen.
So we have powered on the phone.
That takes you to the lock screen.
Swipe up to enter the home screen.
We now need to enter the Microsoft App Store, which I have pinned to my home screen.
If you do not have it pinned to your home screen, you will need to swipe to the left to go to the app menu.
Then you will need to scroll down to find it.
As I have it here, pinned to my home screen, I'm just going to press the tile to enter it.
What we're going to do in this video, is show you how to prevent mischievous people, both children and big people alike, from making purchases from your Microsoft App Store without your permission.
To do this, we're going to put a PIN, which is a personal identification number, to lock the App Store. Then someone will have to enter a PIN in order to access it. If you give them the PIN, at least you have the choice and you can give the PIN to people you trust.
To enter the menu, we're going to press the button located at the bottom of the right-hand side of the screen, which is the ellipses or 3 dots.
This is the menu.
Once we press that it will show us some options.
Press settings, located at the bottom.
Now we have been taken to the settings menu.
We want to press this button, which is this button that says "PIN".
Now it has taken us to the Wallet.
The Wallet on a Microsoft Lumia 535 just helps you to control your purchasing power for things such as apps, music and other things. It helps to protect the things that involve money.
We want to turn Wallet PIN on because we need to create a PIN.
Now we have the option to create a PIN.
We are going to keep things simple for this video, but you'll probably want to make it more complicated than 1-2-3-4.
We actually need to confirm it as well.
Now it's done, so we press "done".
Now you see that the PIN has been activated.
We need to select the square at the top that says "Use wallet PIN to protect music, app, and in-app purchase".
We have created a PIN, we've applied it and it's now ready to defend our system, which is our music and application purchases system.
If we go out of this and we try to get back into the store, we should see if it requires a PIN or not. Press "Store".
If we try to buy something, you will see it now requires a PIN.
So you will see that it is doing its job. Even if it is you, you will see it gives you a security barrier between purchasing it or not. It gives you a chance to think.
We can move back from this screen now.
This concludes our tutorial on how to prevent children or strangers from making purchases from the Microsoft App Store when using a Microsoft Lumia 535.
I hope that this has been beneficial for you. You've been watching VisiHow. Goodbye!
