I think it was caused by: I think its because I installed WhatsApp on the new phone making the WhatsApp on my Windows phone useless.
No, running WhatsApp on multiple devices will not affect anything. First of all, update your Windows phone from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (click here). Here is an example how you can do that: "How to update your Windows phone". If the error asks for some "activation", then you will need to address the Microsoft Customer Service team by calling one of the numbers on this Microsoft Web site. You will be guided on how to enter it to activate your smartphone. If you see "There is a problem with your Live ID. Try again or sign in with a different Windows Live ID", then try the most simple solution: reboot the smartphone by pressing and holding the volume down and power buttons for 10 seconds. You can also try resetting your password on this Web page. You can also hard-reset your Windows phone as shown in this tutorial.
