Sometimes an Android device just isn't working properly, and it needs to be reset. This can happen when the wrong apps have been installed, or an upgrade just didn't go the right way. Other times, you may have forgotten your password, and weren't able to get your Google Account Recovery working. Or, maybe you're just selling an old device and want to wipe it.

Tips Tricks & Warnings

When you reset your Android phone or Tablet, you will lose all data on the phone that has not been backed up, synced, or otherwise saved.

  • Resetting your phone is a last resort option. Take a few minutes to figure out the root of the problem. It may be the Android system, a bad app you downloaded, or you may even need to fix a corrupted SD card.
  • If your battery is draining more quickly than usual, you may want to reset your phone. Check your battery life by going into your Settings app and tapping the Battery panel. If it's an app, uninstall the app. If it's something in the system, you'll want to do a Factory Reset. Here are instructions for checking the battery on your Samsung Galaxy S4.
  • Your battery should be at least 50% charged before you start this process, though we recommend a full charge before starting. You should also have your phone plugged into its charger.
  • Before a Hard Reset, make sure your data is backed up. You can also use a paid app like MyBackup Pro to create a complete backup of your device, and then perform a Factory Reset.

My tab not booting, its not responding?

My tab is just not starting, when I press the power button it doesn't perform any action, and when it opens it asks my Google account when I enter my account details it says wrong ID or password

You have to hold the Volume + and Power Buttons at the same time until the logo appears. Pull out the battery first, if you can, because sometimes that puts a tab in reboot mode.

Google Accounts Recovery should still let you recover your tab password. Try that if you still can't hard reset the tab but you should be able to once you hold down both buttons.
