Steps

  1. 1
Let's go to the Telegram application
    .
I keep it in my social folder right here. It's the little white paper airplane icon. Once we click on that, it takes us to Chats.

We need to go to the Settings
    .
Password protection is a service of Telegram that allows you to protect it from somebody else's eyes, so you can keep your chats completely private. You simply have to set up a four-digit pass-code.

In order to activate it, you have to tap the Auto-Lock option
    .
It will automatically lock your Telegram application if you're gone for a certain length of time. So if you've set it to five hours for example, and you haven't come back to your chats for five hours, it will automatically lock itself.

    Let's see how it works
    .
Let's set it for one minute. If you're away from your phone for one minute, it will be locked and require a pass-code to enter.

Let's just close the phone and the app, and see
    .
We'll give it one minute. As you may know, Telegram positions itself as the world's safest messenger. It does not save your messages on intermediary services, so nobody will be able to track your messages or gain access to them. They've also put in security options so that if someone gets access to your phone they will be unable to access your messages once you've set up the pass-code lock.

  11. 11
We can set up a timer so that we'll be sure we've waited for one minute
    .
In exactly one minute, we'll be back on Telegram to see how the pass-code lock actually works. In case you have some private information you want to share with your contacts or with one person, you should probably pick Telegram messenger for it because it's the only messenger that will give you that kind of high quality protection and privacy. Again, it doesn't just stop others from accessing your current conversations, but it will also prevent someone in between from catching your messages.

  12. 12
Let's go back to Telegram, and now it'll ask us for our pass-code
    .
Let's see what happens if you type in the wrong pass-code. It tells me that I've got one failed pass-code attempt. If you make more mistakes, you may not be able to access your account anymore. You'd have to reinstall the whole application, after which you'd lose all of your previous chats. So let's enter the pass-code: 1234. Now we have access to the chats.

You can also set up a more complicated password that would be more than just four digits
    .
Let's see how it works. You go again to Privacy and Security and select Passcode Lock.

On the very bottom, there's an on and off switch for Simple Passcode

Let's turn the simple pass-code off.
