Edited by Feels, Ash0hley, Eng, Mommo10 and 8 others

Hello there, and welcome to VisiHow.com. This will be a tutorial on how to add text in Sony Vegas Pro. Sony Vegas Pro comes built in with a "Media Generators" tab, with which we can add text, solid colors, credit rolls, patterns, and anything that would be generated inside of Sony Vegas Pro, instead of using an external video, photo, or audio. For this tutorial, we'll be learning about how to add text into a video.

Drag it down to the bottom part of the screen

Make sure it is on top of all of the layers. It will show the text we just added above the photo. If we put the text below the photo, it will not show it unless the photo isn't there. Let's make sure the text is at the top.

We can choose "Scaling", which determines how far it is zoomed in or out

Questions and Answers

Layers when adding transparent text?

Hi! I want to know a thing. If I want to add text to a video in Sony Vegas, will the text appear on the same layer as the video? Or will it be on another layer on top of the video layer? What if it is transparent text? Will it still be on another layer or on the same layer as the original video? Thanks

The text, with opacity or without it, is kept as a separate layer on top or behind the video layer. You can drag the layers up and down to sort their preference. If you drag the text up to the tracks, it will come to the foreground. Drag it down to make it go in the background.

Only when you process the video and make a video file, it will be embedded into the video itself.

With the closed captioning feature of Sony Vegas, you can create subtitles that can be stored as a separate file after creating a video file out of your project.

How to change text media generator property so the text is not just an outline?

Hi, I'm using a template for an introduction and the text has an outline property. This is with Vegas Pro 11. I can change the fonts, make it bold, but I cannot seem to make the text solid instead of just an outline. In the video media generators section, the outline property for outline width is set to 0.0. I've played with it, but cannot seem to get a solid text. Any idea on why this might be?. I have tried: I've changed the outline width, tried different fonts, and searched Google but can't find an answer. I think it was caused by: It might have something to do with the template I'm using.

How do you add your own font instead of using the ones provided?

I'm editing a video, and I don't want to use the default fonts in Sony Vegas, I'd rather use my own. Is there a way I can add my own fonts? It doesn't specify the answer to my question, it just uses the ones on the program as a default.
