This is happening with Google not accepting the backup password because you have 2-step verification enabled in your Google Account. Sign in from to PC to My Account. On Security you will see Password & sign-in method on the right-hand side of the page. 2-step Verification needs to be turned OFF.

Keep attempting by putting in several different combos for the backup password, you may get lucky with the correct one but eventually you will see the Forgot Password option to click and use Google. If you can't get through with the correct Google Account then follow the steps in the top answer for 2-step verification removal.

I'm wondering if there is a way to get into my phone without doing a factory reset. My fingerprint will not work?

If you have a Samsung then you can try Samsung's Find My Mobile to remotely unlock your phone. As stated above, you can also use your Google Account.

Restarting phone again comes to the backup password screen and does not prompt the fingerprint?

Restarting phone again comes to the backup password screen and does not prompt the fingerprint

Did you pull the battery? You tripped the KNOX counter. Pulling the battery soft resets the phone. You can also put it in to Recovery Mode using the hard keys but instead of a Factory Reset choose Wipe Cache Partition. Then go back in and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache. This will prompt you to restart the phone. Then see if you can access. If not, continually enter what you think could be the backup so that you can get to the Forgot Password prompt and use your Google Account.

My fingerprint scanner doesn't work and I forgot my backup password?

How can I get in my phone?! I've tried to shut it off and turn it back on but it didn't work, I also took the battery out and it didn't work either, anything I can do?

Wiping the cache as stated above can reset the KNOX counter. If you have a Samsung then you can unlock the phone remotely with Samsung's Find My Mobile. That is if you entered a Samsung account on the phone when you set it up. At least, you can also use your Google Account. It is just a method of attempting over and over until you get that prompt. Sometimes unlike the 5 times they state, you have to attempt more than 20 times.

I restored my previous ROM, now the fingerprint is incorrect?

I restored my previous ROM, now the fingerprint is incorrect

When you restore to ROM like that it does something with the firmware. If you can access the settings then try to clear the Credentials in Security including deleting all your fingerprints. The only way to really fix this is to factory reset the device and start new completely again. Some people reported that even Wiping Cache and Dalvik Cache while it did work for some others still had to hard reset the device completely.

This is a pesky software issue with Samsung Fingerprint technology. Numerous people have had your same issue where suddenly it stopped working. Wipe your screen with rubbing alcohol then try again. If it fails, you can unlock with Samsung's Find My Mobile and then, for now, you should change the access to a pin or pattern. It seems the only way to fix the fingerprint issue is to hard reset your device every time it happens but gain access through Samsung or your Google Account and then back up everything on the phone. If you have to hard reset then you will have important data saved.

My fingerprint scanner didn't recognize my fingerprint and so it had to ask for my backup password in which I can't remember anymore the exact password?

How will I reset my phone without losing any data saved?

You can connect your phone to the PC using Samsung Kies if you have a Samsung or another method if you have a different phone but if USB debugging is disabled then you will have to use something like Screenlock Bypass Pro which is downloaded remotely from your Google Play account on the PC. You should be able to use your Google Account since you would have to know that in order to remotely install an app.

How can I unlock my Samsung Galaxy Note4 that is not recognizing my fingerprint?

Well, hello. You just popped up while I was reading. I recently reset my phone unlock back to fingerprint mode from a numerical code. I did not rescan my fingers but was having no problem. Just now it was telling me that my fingers are not recognized. I had just washed and dried my hands and one of the times it rejected me there was a picture of a water drop. I dried my hands again and tried again and it still didn't like my prints. I tried Google, but it wouldn't take any of my recent passwords. None of my typical variations of passwords are working for the backup password. I tried fingerprint again. Now it only gives me the option of a backup password. I tried restarting it and still only the backup password option.

You probably have 2-step verification enabled in your Google Account and this is why it bounced back your Google Account. Use Samsung's Find My phone to unlock your phone and then delete all the fingerprints. You will have to start over. There have been reports that once you get the backup password warning, the software frequently fails using Fingerprint Locks. Although hard resetting seems like a blanket solution, when you do this the phone updates itself and many times you receive patches for software.
