CPU problem and computer beeping?

Hi! I have Dell Inspiron n5050 computer, Intel core i3 processor and Windows 7 home premium OS. Lately my computer started to beep repeatedly - 5 short sequential beeps followed with longer pauses then beeps again. And so on. With some quick research I've stumbled upon the idea that this kind of beeping indicates the CPU problem. So I am interested in what can I do regarding CPU and what exactly can be the problem with it. Thanks. I have tried: Nothing yet.

For the specific computer, the CPU problem would be 7 beeps. Your problem is in the real-time clock power, which is, most likely, a dead or half-dead CMOS battery. You can order one online at http://www.amazon.com/Reserve-Battery-RU485-Inspiron-M4010/dp/B00N2P6810. Then, you will need to open the case, locate the similar object to the one you will have bought, use a plastic object or your finger to depress the mechanism holding it, take it out and put the new one in just by pressing it not too strongly.

I have 5 warning messages from Desktop Windows Manger Monitoring, why?

All I know is when I left my PC on over night something happened, when I woke up got to the computer, I saw my PC saying it was having performance issues so I went to device manager to look to see if it said I was having any issues with my processor and it didn't. But lately my computer when I leave it running and the monitor goes to sleep while the PC still runs its not in sleep mode (My Choice) I've noticed when I move the mouse the screen is frozen for a little bit maybe like a min or 2 before it unfreezes am I having processor problems or could it be the drivers causing this? I'm confused on narrowing this down!. I have tried: I haven't tried much, just looked into the problem via device manager and the event log viewer in Windows. I haven't changed anything. But I have ran a virus scan just in case but it did not find any virus or malware!. I think it was caused by: I don't know exactly that's why I am here asking these questions.

My computer CPU gets on but monitor shows no signal?

Once I power on my system I am getting a sound from the CPU hard-disk and monitor shows no signal

What sound are you getting from the CPU? Is it beeps through the internal speaker? If it is, then find the model of your motherboard, find its BIOS type (for example, Award), and then refer to the manual, either online or that came with the motherboard, to see what the beeps mean. Note the duration and number of beeps to troubleshoot your computer.

If it is just mechanical sound from the cooler on the CPU, then start researching the problem:

  • disconnect and replace the power supply unit with a spare one but with an added overall power and reconnect it carefully. Your video card may need power from the power supply unit too (6-pin connectors); so, you need to have that on the power supply too;
  • when reconnecting the power supply unit, always be careful with connecting the 4-pin and 20/24-pin connectors of the power supply unit to the motherboard. Their number of pins and position must must exactly match the ones on the motherboard;
  • disconnect any drives and USB devices from the motherboard itself. Sometimes, an USB device like a card reader might be broken and draw all of the power off the motherboard, making the computer not boot up;
  • take out all of the RAM sticks and leave one in slot 1 (consult your motherboard manual to find it);
  • try to boot up your PC. If it does not work, exchange the RAM stick with another, exchange the video card, or remove the CPU cooler and CPU itself, check the socket pins under bright light and find any irregularities. You may need to straighten the pins if you see any out of place. Put the CPU back, apply a thermal paste to the CPU and distribute it evenly with a plastic card, for example, and reattach the cooler.

After these procedures, you may find what causes the problem in your computer. If none of the advice worked, replace the motherboard. We have a tutorial that might help you on identifying whether your motherboard is dead or not.
