Eye shape

A pretty straight-forward slider, it allows you to pick from eight presets of eye shapes. The presets affect the base shape of the eye. Used in combination with the other sliders, you have an almost endless variety of different looks for your character.

Eye size

The eye size slider affects the size and width of the eyes.

  • Up: Widens the eyes
  • Down: Narrows the eyes
  • Left: Shrinks the eyes
  • Right: Enlarges the eyes
  • Up and to the right: Shrinks and narrows the eyes
  • Up and to the left: Shrinks and widens the eyes
  • Down and to the left: Enlarges and widens the eyes
  • Down and to the right: Enlarges and narrows the eyes

Eye Position

Eye Position

Eye position affects how the eyes sit in the face; it affects how deep-set the eyes are and how high or low they sit. In conjunction with the brow size and eyebrow presets, you can move the eyes closer to the brow or farther away.

  • Up: Lowers the eyes
  • Down: Raises the eyes
  • Left: Moves the eyes forward, makes them less deep-set
  • Right: Moves the eyes back, makes them more deep-set
  • Up and to the right: Lowers and deepens eyes
  • Up and to the left: Lowers and brings eyes forward
  • Down and to the left: Raises the eyes and brings them forward
  • Down and to the right: Raises the eyes and deepens them

Eye Rotation and Spacing

Eye Rotation and Spacing

Eye rotation and spacing does exactly what it sounds like: it rotates the corners of the eyes up and down and controls how far apart they sit on the face.

  • Up: Turns the outer corner down and the inner corner up
  • Down: Turns the outer corner up and the inner corner down
  • Left: Sets the eyes farther apart
  • Right: Sets the eyes closer together
  • Up and to the right: Sets closer together and turns the outer-corner down and the inner-corner up
  • Up and to the left: Sets the eyes farther apart and turns the outer-corner down and inner-corner up
  • Down and to the left: Sets the eyes farther apart and turns the outer-corner up and the inner-corner down
  • Down and to the right: Sets the eyes closer together and turns the outer-corner up and the inner-corner down

Eyebrow style

Eyebrow Style

The eyebrow style sliders let you choose from 24 different presets, some thin, some thick, and some in-between. Like eye style, the presets represent the basis for your character's eyebrows, and you can use the eyebrow position, brow size, eye position, and even the forehead slider to tweak how they look.

Miscellaneous Eye Sliders

The sliders below let you move the eyebrows up and down and select your eye color.

  • Eyebrow position: Moving this slider to the right lowers the eyebrows and moving it to the left raises them.
  • Eyelash style: 15 styles
  • Outer iris color: Use the color wheel to pick the shade of the outer iris of the eye
  • Inner iris color: Use the color wheel to pick the shade of the inner iris of the eye

Nose Shape

Choose the base shape of your character's nose from eight presets and customize it from there.

Nose Size

Nose Size

The nose size slider makes your character's nose bigger and smaller as well as wider and narrower. Note that this slider affects the entire nose, from bridge to tip.

  • Up: Makes the nose bigger
  • Down: Makes the nose smaller
  • Left: Makes the nose narrower
  • Right: Makes the nose wider
  • Up and to the right: Makes the nose bigger and wider
  • Up and to the left: Makes the nose bigger and narrower
  • Down and to the left: Makes the nose smaller and narrower
  • Down and to the right: Makes the nose smaller and wider

Nose Position

The nose position affects how high or low the nose sits on the face as well as how far it protrudes

  • Up: Moves the nose lower
  • Down: Moves the nose higher
  • Left: Moves the nose back; lessens the degree to which it protrudes from the face
  • Right: Moves the nose forward; increases the degree to which it protrudes from the face

Bridge Size

Nose Bridge Size

Bridge size affects only the bridge of the nose, which is the part of the nose above the tip. Move the slider to the right to make it wider and left to make it narrower.

Bridge Position

The horizontal sliders control the position of the upper bridge, that is, the part that's closest to the eyes, while the vertical sliders control the lower bridge, which is the part closest to the tip.

  • Up: Moves the lower bridge forward; in other words, makes it protrude more
  • Down: Moves the lower bridge backward; in other words, makes it protrude less
  • Left: Moves the upper bridge forward; in other words, makes it protrude more
  • Right: Moves the upper bridge back; in other words, makes it protrude less
  • Up and to the right: Moves the upper bridge forward and the lower bridge back
  • Up and to the left: Moves the upper and lower bridge forward
  • Down and to the left: Moves the lower bridge forward and the upper bridge back
  • Down and to the right: Moves the upper and lower bridge back

Nose Tip Size

The nose tip slider affects, you guessed, it the tip of the nose. It adjusts its size and width.

  • Up: Makes the nose tip bigger
  • Down: Makes the nose tip smaller
  • Left: Makes the nose tip narrower
  • Right: Makes the nose tip wider
  • Up and to the right: Makes the nose tip bigger and wider
  • Up and to the left: Makes the nose tip bigger and narrower
  • Down and to the left: Makes the nose tip smaller and narrower
  • Down and to the right: Makes the nose tip smaller and wider

This slider affects where the nose tip sits in relation to the bridge. Moving the slider to the left moves the nose tip down while moving it to the right brings it up.

  • Up/left: Moves the nose tip down
  • Down/right: Moves the nose tip up

Nostril Size

The nostril size slider makes the nostrils larger or smaller and affects where they sit in relation to the tip of the nose.

  • Up: Moves the nostrils lower
  • Down: Moves the nostrils higher
  • Left: Makes the nostrils smaller
  • Right: Makes the nostrils larger
  • Up and to the right: Moves the nostrils lower and makes them larger
  • Up and to the left: Moves the nostrils lower and makes them smaller
  • Down and to the left: Moves the nostrils higher and makes them smaller
  • Down and to the right: Moves the nostrils higher and makes them larger

Broken Nose

Broken Nose

This one is pretty self-explanatory: it simulates a broken nose; in other words, it gives the bridge of the nose a nice bump. Move the slider up to make a larger bump and move it down to make a smaller one.

Mouth Shape

There are eight different mouth-shape presets. Choose one as your base mouth shape and then use the sliders in this category to adjust it to your liking.

Mouth Width

This is a simple slider: move it to the right to widen the mouth; move it to the left to make the mouth narrower.

Mouth Position

Mouth position affects whether the mouth is closer to the nose or the bottom of the chin whether it is recessed or pushed forward in the jaw. It also affects the chin and cheek area.

  • Up: Lowers the mouth
  • Down: Raises the mouth
  • Left: Moves the mouth back
  • Right: Moves the mouth forward
  • Up and to the right: Lowers the mouth and moves it forward
  • Up and to the left: Lowers the mouth and moves it back
  • Down and to the left: Raises the mouth and moves it back
  • Down and to the right: Raises the mouth and moves it forward

Lip Thickness

Lip Thickness

The vertical sliders affect the upper lip while the horizontal sliders affect the bottom lip.

  • Up: Makes the upper lip thicker
  • Down: Makes the upper lip thinner
  • Left: Makes the lower lip thicker
  • Right: Makes the lower lip thinner
  • Up and to the right: Makes the upper lip thicker while making the lower lip thinner
  • Up and to the left: Makes the upper and lower lips thicker
  • Down and to the left: Makes the upper lip thinner and lower lip thicker
  • Down and to the right: Makes the upper and lower lips thinner

Jawline

The jawline slider determines the shape of the jaw, for example, whether your character has a square or angular jaw. Moving the slider up makes the jaw square while moving it down makes the jaw angular.

Jaw Size

Combined with the jaw line slider, the jaw size slider affects the shape of the lower face.

  • Up: Raises the jaw
  • Down: Lowers the Jaw
  • Left: Narrows the jaw
  • Right: Widens the jaw
  • Up and to the right: Raises and widens the jaw
  • Up and to the left: Raises and narrows the jaw
  • Down and to the left: Lowers and narrows the jaw
  • Down and to the right: Lowers and widens the jaw

Jowls

The jowls slider makes subtle changes to the cheeks and mouth. You have to rotate your character around to see what it's doing to his or her appearance. The vertical sliders affect the cheek area, while the horizontal sliders affect the mouth area. I can't describe what they do beyond that; just adjust them to your taste.

Chin size

Chin size affects more than just the size of the chin: it also affects the shape of the lower face.

  • Up: Makes the chin taller
  • Down: Makes the chin shorter
  • Left: Makes the chin pointer
  • Right: Makes the chin wider
  • Up and to the right: Makes the chin taller and wider
  • Up and to the left: Makes the chin taller and pointer
  • Down and to the left: Makes the chin shorter and pointier
  • Down and to the right: Makes the chin shorter and wider

Chin Shape

The chin shape slider affects the chin and the lips.

  • Up: Moves the chin and the lower lip forward
  • Down: Moves the chin and lower lip backward
  • Left: Makes a jutting chin
  • Right: Makes a receding chin
  • Up and to the right: Moves the chin and lower lip forward while making the chin recede
  • Up and to the left: Moves the chin and lower lip forward while making the chin jut
  • Down and to the left: Moves the chin and lower lip back while making the chin jut
  • Down and to the right: Moves the chin and lower lip back while making the chin recede

Double Chin

The double chin slider affects the underside of the jaw.

Up: Makes the underside of the jaw thicker Down: Makes the underside of the jaw thinner

Scars and Tattoos

Scars and Tattoos

There are a variety of scar and tattoo options in the character creator:

  • Scar shape: 24 varieties, including none
  • Scar intensity: Sliding right increases the darkness of a scar
  • Horizontal position: Determines the scar's left-right position on the face
  • Vertical position: Determines the scar's up-down position on the face
  • Tattoo design:15 tattoos, with variations of lightness and darkness
  • Tattoo color: Use the color wheel to choose the tattoo color

Makeup

Makeup

Even men can wear makeup in Thedas, so don't be afraid to experiment! You can choose everything from eyeshadow color to lip shine.

  • Eyeshadow color
  • Eyeshadow intensity
  • Under eye color
  • Under brow color
  • Under brow intensity
  • Eyelash color
  • Eyeliner color
  • Eyeliner intensity

  • Skin tone: Slide to the right for progressively darker skin.
  • Face shape: A quick and dirty selection of preset face shapes.
  • Complexion: Ten complexion varieties, including complexions with wrinkles and freckles
  • Eye color: Set of basic eye color presets
  • Hair: There are about 20 different hairstyles to choose from.
  • Hair color: Basic hair color presets
  • Voice: Choose between English and American voice actors
