    1. Device- allows you to save the new contact on your Galaxy Note3 alone. The new contact will not be automatically synchronized to any ActiveSync accounts or other online accounts such as your Google account. You can always perform a manual synchronization if there is a need to in the future. Inserting another SIM card on your phone will not remove the contacts saved on it.
    2. SIM - allows you to save the new contact on your SIM card. Once the SIM card is removed, you cannot view the saved contact on your phone. This option may come in handy, especially if you have the tendency to transfer your SIM card from one phone to another, from time to time.
    3. Google - allows you to save the new contacts to your Google account. When synced with your phone, all contacts on your Google account will show regardless of what phone you are using.
    4. Samsung Account - allows you to save the new contact to your Samsung Account. This follows the same logic as the Google option; when synced with your phone, all contacts on your Google account will show regardless of what phone you are using.

Send Emails Using Contacts

There are three ways to search for a contact using your Samsung Galaxy Note3. The following are:

  1. 1
    Manual scroll and search.
This is the basic and most common way. By default, contacts are listed chronologically. If you want to search for a contact that starts with a Z, you need to scroll down to the bottom of the list to see that contact. This type of searching is the most time-consuming way to search for contacts.
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  2. 2
Use the letter on the right side of the display for quick manual search.
This is faster than the manual search. Instead of manually scrolling from A-Z, you would just have to tap on the letter on right side of the display to quickly go to the contact list that starts with that chosen letter. This alternative is an easier and faster way to search for contacts compared to the manual scroll and search.
Was this step helpful? Yes | No | I need help

  3. 3
Use the Search button to search.
This method is the fastest among the three. Tap on the Search box located at the top of the contacts screen. Input the name of the contact and results will start showing every time you enter a character. You do not need to completely type in your contact's full name, as results can show you the chosen contacts after a few characters entered. This is the fastest way but requires you to memorize your contact's name and the correct spelling.

Organization field in Contacts S3?

I want Organization field to show up default when I am adding contact information manually or with Goggles

Samsung does not offer an option to view contacts through their organization. Other similar applications to Contact, also do not offer it. What you can do for now is organize your contacts into groups so you can view them by group ordering. You can check on this article on [Manage Groups on Samsung Galaxy Note 3|how to manage groups on Galaxy Note 3].

An alternative is to add a prefix to the name of specific contacts. The prefix can be something like be the organization name (i.e., VisiHow Yomar, VisiHow Mike, VisiHow Mel), so that when your view your phone contacts, you will see them arranged through the organization's name.

Unfortunately you will need to always choose the Add Another Field option when adding a contact, for it will not show up automatically when adding a contact.

The connection section is no longer there to allow you to unmerge contacts. How can I unmerge now?

It is still possible to unmerge contacts that have been previously merged. When unmerged the previous name on the merged data will be on the phonebook again. To unmerge contacts follow these:

  • Go to your Home Menu by pressing on the Home button once.
  • From your Home Screen tap on Contacts located on the Favourites bar.
  • You will now be taken to the Contacts. Locate the contact where a merge was previously done and tap on it. On later versions merged has been termed as "linked".
  • Upon tapping, you will see the Contacts details. In the Connections section, you will see a Samsung icon ("S"). This is an indication that there is a merged/linked contact to the selected one.
  • Tap on the link icon (represented by a chain) located on the extreme right of the Samsung icon.
  • You will now see the Linked Account page where the details for the linked/merged accounts are available.
  • Tap on the minus icon (-) to separate the selected contact. Confirm the action by tapping on the "OK" button.
  • You are done with unmerging / unlinking your contacts.

In order to bring up the merge contacts and unmerge contacts option you will need to go to your contact list and then press the menu button on your device to see the options you have to perform.

I am amazed the Organization is not a default! I do not want to have to choose it every time I add a contact?

I am amazed the Organization is not a default! I do not want to have to choose it every time I add a contact

Yes, it is not a default, mainly because most users will just prefer to type in basic personal information instead of having to type company names. Not everyone will actually put in an organization name for each and every contact, so it is considered an extra feature.

Samsung Contact & Exchange Contact?

Hello. How can I merge Samsung Contact & Exchange Contact --> Exchange contacts? Thank you

You have to access your Samsung contacts through Exchange and authorize access from there. This works the same way as authorizing access for Viber, WhatsApp, and other apps similar to this. Your device will ask for your permission first.

How do I make Google the default place to store my contacts when adding new ones?

How do I make Google the default place to store my contacts when adding new ones

I have located the way that your contacts will automatically be stored to your Google account rather than only being stored on your device. By merging them with Google you will be able to transfer devices with your Gmail account in order to bring back up all the contact that you have saved on your device:

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

-Go to contacts.

-Press the Menu button.

-Select the option Merge Accounts.

-Tap on Merge with Google.

-The next pop up will say that your contacts will be merged with Google.

-Simply tap OK to finish the process.

Now all of your contacts will be merged with your Google account from now on when adding contacts or the saved contacts you already have in your device.

Default Contact Type for New Contacts has changed from my Gmail account to 'Device'?

I have a Galaxy Note3 - AT&T - updated to Android 4.4 a month or two ago. Until the last week or so, when I create a new contact, the contact type defaulted to my Gmail account - which is what I want. Recently, however, it is defaulting to 'Device'. I've tried various suggestions on various threads without success. [Note - I also have an Exchange Account, and I need to be able to see those contacts, so I cannot just display the Gmail contacts]

Hi, I have over 6000 contacts and in 3 different accounts, but whenever I search for a contact, it can take over 45 seconds to start displaying.

I cleared the contacts cache and it seams to be going quick now. But then I learned that there is also an option that ¨searches online¨ that I should disable, but I cannot find where it is available.
