Manage App Permissions on Nexus 6P

You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, I'm going to demonstrate how to manage application permissions on the Nexus 6P.

Steps

  1. 1
    From the home screen, take two fingers and swipe down

    This will reveal the gear-shaped icon on the top right corner of the screen

    Tap it once.

    Scroll down until you reach the "Apps" menu

    Tap it once.

    Then tap on the gear shaped icon in the top right corner

    Then tap on "App permissions."

    It's going to group all of your apps by the permission type and number of apps that request that permission type

    For instance, I have four apps that have requested my calendar access
    .
    And I have 29 apps that have requested access to my Contacts.

    Let's look at those apps for contacts and tap it once
    .
    I imagine most of these apps are requesting the contacts permission so that it will be easy to email the contacts. I may or may not need to contact other people while using any of these apps. One of these in particular that I noticed was "Wizz Air" that requested permission to contacts. And it's just an Airline. So I don't need to give permission to the contacts information for Wizz Air.

    Tap on the toggle
    .
    The phone will read "This app was designed for an older version of Android. Denying permission may cause it to no longer function as intended."

    Choose "DENY" anyway

    Let's go back to the home screen by tapping the circle icon

    See if the app still functions by tapping on the it

    It seems to work OK. I don't see any negative consequences to change that.
