Method 1: with Braids
Hi, my name is Kara and today I will show you how to pin up hair with just 2 braids and a metallic hair band. This is going to look really nice.
I will also need invisible rubber hair bands which are matching color for my hair.
They are really tiny and they are absolutely invisible in your hair.
So let's open your hair on the side, whichever side you prefer.
I will choose the right one today.
This is not a natural position for my hair so I will need to pin it up temporarily.
I will take it off after I am done. I need my hair to sit in that position for awhile.
So now I am brushing the hair back from the center from approximately here.
Because I have a very round head over here, my hair keeps opening like these lines goes up to here, so I have to pull it back.
The next thing I am going to do is turn around so you can see.
I need to separate my hair approximately in half.
So from each half I need to make a braid, just the classic, simple one that you separate your hair into 3 parts.
Anyone can do it, and as bad as I am with my hair, this is something I can do.
I admire people that are able to do all kinds of hair styles using the hair dryer and the hair waves. I am not as good as that, but these are the simple things that basically anyone can do. If you have a daughter or a little sister, you could train with them as well. As you can see not all my hair I the same length.
These parts are too little and there is nothing left from this part.
So this is what I am doing in these cases. I'm going to put this down, but I me leaving a long piece from the other section.
So basically sharing with the neighboring hair parts.
It's ok if there is hair sticking out, it's not critical.
The less hair you leave at the end the better because ewe will have to hide it inside.
I am doing so now I will need one of my enviable hair bands to fix the braid.
Let's get to the other part.
I am doing the same thing on my right side.
Make sure you don't have any hair left on the bottom.
I think that this kind of hair style is so easy that even a man can do it.
Fathers can be making it for their daughters, brothers can be making it for their little sisters. It's that easy. So I am basically doing on this one as well. It also sticks out here and there but its ok.
So lets get the next one and put it on the end of your braid.
So now I have 2 braids over here.
They are not too thick and not perfect because of my haircut.
This is what I am going to do next.
I will need 2 or 3 hairpins. I am choosing black, but it you have lighter hair you should go with a lighter color hair pin.
I need to connect these 2 braids together.
Let's put this one up first and fix it with a hairpin inside.
Now we are doing the same thing with the other one.
Make sure you hide the end under the other braid.
Now, what I am doing with the ends. It has already been done by default hidden it in here. So this is perfect.
Now as I said.
I will use the hair band. There is a metallic part of it so that it can bend, it can take any shape you want.
So I am going to out it around my hair, right under my braid.
Because I have a line on the side, I am going to drag it up and fix it on the same spot where I have opened my hair.
But before I do this I need to take my hair pin out. Roll it around and do a fancy bow.
If you have some pieces coming off like this, you can hide it in your hair or tuck it under the hair band
This is what is looks like from behind
I think it is quite pretty.

The key to these hairstyles is proper sectioning and day old hair. You want to begin at the front section of your hair all the way back to your crown and use a teasing comb to boost your hair volume from the roots. Twist from left to right (backwards twist) the section of hair and push forward to create a bump. Secure with bobby pins or a small clip. You can do two smaller ones on the sides of you head as well. This is one of the most common hairstyles of that day. The ends of your hair can be finished off by under rolling with a large curling iron or hot rollers. Consider having Betty Page bangs. The picture below shows a short bang curled under with curled hair. You can cut your bangs straight across medium length and do a bigger curl like this.
