Kies problem with manually connecting to it. Any ideas why this might happen and if your idea works, I will be grateful?

I tried connecting my Samsung Galaxy Note2 to Kies and I manually tried to connect to Kies. However, when I typed in the Model number it was OK but when I typed in the S/N number it says you typed in the wrong number any ideas why this might happen. I plugged in the cable to my CPU btw. I did this in order to save my pictures on my phone to my CPU. I couldn't connect to Kies which was significantly different. I have tried: I tried to connect to Kies manually but it did not work. I also tried to soft reset in order to not lose my pictures so I can save it to my computer. I think it was caused by: Probably a virus? or could it be the battery because I used it for well.... 7years
