There is no need for you to change settings on the phone to allow you to send and receive files from a computer. Normally, for transferring files from one phone or the other must be on the same brand. To send and receive files, you must pair your phone to the other.

Simply go to Settings then Bluetooth and enable it and make it discoverable. Discoverable must be enabled for the other device can see your phone's Bluetooth signal and the other device must do the same way (The discoverable) and start pairing them.

Once it has been paired. Go to your files, simply select a file or files and hit on Bluetooth from the list of options and select the device that you paired to send. If you are trying to send to a computer, do the same stuff by pairing them.

Aside from the Bluetooth to send and receive files, there are a lot of ways to do it.

Another way to send is via email and of course, your phone must be connected to the internet. Remember that there is a limit on the file size that you are sending, it is only up to 25 Mb. Beyond 25 Mb requires you to use Google drive.

Simply compose and email on your phone or computer then attached the file and send it to the email address you want to send the file. If you send it to a Tablet or phone, simply open the email and the attachment and download to save it in your device.

Some other ways to transfer files are:

Via Samsung Kies for Samsung devices Via Media Server Using USB to computer and computer to your device

For Samsung Kies, you just need to install the Kies that came in the package or download it from Samsung website itself. Once it has been installed, you just have to connect your phone to your computer and run the Samsung Kies then in the interface, everything will be explanatory. If you have another Samsung phone, simply disconnect the first phone and connect the second and transfer the files to the 2nd phone.

Normally, a prompt will appear asking if you trust the computer that is connected to your device. You just have to confirm that and there should not be a problem transferring files.

Keep in mind, however, that not all files from your phone may be compatible with your computer. In most cases, this is the reason why the transfer is not completed.

I am able to upload all of my pictures from phone to computer but it won't upload my videos?

It is possible that the reason the videos are not transferring is because you don't have enough memory on your computer anymore. This is especially the case if the size of the videos is really big or the video is rather long.

Also, try to see whether your computer has put a blocker on certain types of videos which may be classified as a threat. If this is the case, the videos are more likely being blocked that's why you cannot upload them.

I need to be able to cut and paste, i.e. move files, rather than just copy and paste?

I need to be able to cut and paste rather than just copy and paste... i.e. I want to actually move files from phone to computer rather than copy to computer than have to manually delete files from my phone as I keep finding files that show up again on my phone even after deleting them and I also want to be sure they have been copied to the computer before deleting them. Right now I find two sets of photos and videos... some saved to the phone and some saved to microSD card and when deleting files it's hard to tell which folder they are coming from when on the phone. The computer acts like it is cutting and pasting but then the phone won't allow the files to actually be deleted through the computer interface

It is simple indeed. You can either synchronize your phone and your PC. In order to do so, just click on synchronize from your phone's settings. If that works then well and good for you, otherwise you will have to do it manually. In that case, do not cut and paste the files. Instead, select the files and drag them from phone to PC. This way the file will be moved without you having to delete it from anywhere.

I have music I have on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and I want to copy them to my desktop so I can burn them?

I can not seem to get the computer to recognize the files and sync.

Do the following:

  • connect computer and phone using the USB wire
  • on your phone, enable USB debugging settings>developer options>USB debugging
  • on the home menu, drag down notification bar, you will see this:

Tap it

  • It will open this one:

Turn it on

  • on your computer your phone will install its driver
  • once driver is installed (automatically), go to My computer
  • choose the phone's name (which is an attached device)
  • open the specific folder where your MP3 are stored
  • copy and paste them on another folder on your computer

Samsung's Kies software is meant for your computer, not your cell phone. Download it on your Windows PC or Apple Mac to use Kies.

Does sync rename and cut files?

Hello, your opinion would be useful.

In Samsung Galaxy S4 photo album, we recently found a video named 20140722_133810, although the video was created at 23/7/2009 (that's the "date creation" showed in properties of PC file and not at 22/7/2014 at 13:38:10 o'clock as it's name indicates) and was then saved to the PC's hard disk, with a different name. We don't remember having synchronized the phone to PC lately unless we have given the option of automatically syncing when connected to WiFi, I don't know, via Kies), how could this possibly have happened? Now half part of the video is left on PC and half part on the phone, both with the same changed name. We used the EXIF reader to find the original name but it didn't work.
