No, it is not illegal for you to not use your parking brake in Canada. It is simply a safety precaution depending on the situation at the time for whether or not you need to use a parking on your vehicle.

The reasons to use a parking brake are listed below:

1. Use the parking brake if parking on a hill

2. Use parking brake if you are driving a manual transmission vehicle

Those are the basic reasons for using a parking brake, but understand that it is not illegal if you were not to use your parking brake.

Is parking in a building structure across the street from my work illegal?

I sometimes park my car in a building structure right across the street from my work. It doesn't say private parking anywhere so I assume it's safe to park there. I believe it's a bunch of leased out offices but one guy said that I can get my car towed for parking there all because I asked a gentleman if he could kindly not park like a rude person by taking up two spaces. Just wondering if that is a risk I'm taking?. I have tried: Nothing. I never thought that this would be an issue. Like I said, it's not a private place. there are many different businesses there.. I think it was caused by: Because I asked a gentleman to not take two parking spots, and his pal threatened my car can get towed since I don't pertain to any business in that location.
