Is drinking a coke before singing good for you?

Ad

Drinking Coke before singing is not recommended. Coke contains aspartame that may harm your vocals. Aspartame is an artificial low calorie sweetener that is made up of Wood Alcohol (methanol), Phenylalanine and Aspartic acid. As you would know, alcohol is bad for your singing voice, this may cause irritation in the tissues of your vocal tract. So, if you want something to drink before singing, drink water instead.

As a singer, it is not advisable that you drink coke or any soda as it contains acid and heavy sugar that can damage or make your throat soar and have a scratchy feel. You may end up having flat notes while singing. Although you can drink coke or soda but it should be mild only and as a singer, you are obliged to take care of your voice and drink tap water only and do not drink too much of warm and cold.
