Instead of folder on the USB drive, I can only see an icon?

On Win XP, I can't read files on my USB flash drive, when I open the USB drive it shows only icon for the folder, but not an actual folder, and on Win 7 and Win 10 USB drive is working normally. When I got to USB drive properties on XP, I can see the usage and that there is something in there, but when I open it - there is only the icon. Can you help me with that problem? It's not the same problem, folder is not a hidden one.

I removed it and did a compare with the disk duplicator and it was a perfect match.. . I unlocked the drive, inserted it into the same windows machine. Removed and did compare again. Now no match.. . I'm trying to understand why this would be the case. What does Windows do to the drive if it is not locked? Could not find drive modification information in the article. MY USB Drive isn't displaying my pictures onto my Computer?

Whenever I plug the USB drive into my computer it shows that there are files on it but when I click on the pictures to see them they do not appear. Please help. I tried the advice and commands and still no luck. I have tried: The Attr command, showing hidden files, etc. All of these things did not work. I think it was caused by: Maybe a formatting issue? I am not sure what happened.
