Install and Setup DropBox on Your iPhone 6
Edited by Grimm, Leomar Umpad, Dougie
You are watching VisiHow and today, we are going to show you how you can download and install DropBox on your iPhone 6.
The first thing that we do is to press the lock button on the right side of the phone.
One press on the lock button will take us to the lock screen.
When we are on the lock screen, we can swipe to unlock.
Enter in a very difficult pass-code like 1234.
You can use your thumb or the finger to press the Home button at the bottom.
This will unlock your phone and get you started.
What we are going to do is to look for the App Store icon - it's a blue A.
As soon as we find that, let's give it a single press.
We are going to open up the App Store.
When the App Store is open, we are going to need to search for DropBox
Tap on the Search button - this will bring up the Search menu, which shows you the current trending searches.
Now, we are going to tap into the Search field and type in DropBox - D, that's the first one.
Here's DropBox, you can see it shows up as the third most popular item.1
Tap on DropBox one time.
This will open DropBox. You will now see the DropBox application in your window. In my case, we are going to simply tap on Open. However, you will probably need to tap Get, then Install, and then your password.
Alternatively, you may downloaded this on an older iPhone that you may have had.
If you have an iPhone 5, iPhone 5S or 4, in which case you will have a little cloud-shaped icon on the right side. You want to tap that and install it from your stored setup files on the cloud.
Now, I'm going to go ahead and tap on Open.
One tap on Open is going to launch the DropBox application.
I will be welcomed in and I can swipe through a series of four separate Windows to learn more about DropBox, or I can simply sign in if I am a member.
Since this is a new tutorial and the aim is to help you with DropBox, we are going to swipe to that second window.
As you can see on the screen, when you take photos, DropBox will keep them safe for you.
You can store them on DropBox.
Next, you can access documents from your computers, from your smartphones, or from anywhere on-the-go, simply by logging in your DropBox.
Finally, basically you get to have your stuff, all the things that you want to save online, anywhere.
Personally, I use DropBox for a number of things. For example, I have a number of Wordpress templates and I use those templates from different locations and sometimes, on different systems. They are all stored on DropBox. That way, I don't have to worry about losing them. I also keep my WordPress plugins no there. I have several small files and applications stored on DropBox. There are a number of other uses for it in addition to storing photos and documents.
If you are a programmer, you can store your code there.
If you are migrating from one system to another, you can store backup there. There is a file size limit on DropBox of 10 gigabytes on a mobile connection or web-based connections. However, if you are using a desktop computer, there is no file size limit. Whatever your system can handle loading up, DropBox can handle those things for you as long as you have a plan for it.
For those of you who don't know, you are going to tap on sign up and enter your information.
If you have already got an account, you are simply going to tap on Sign-in.
When you sign-in, you are going to enter your email and you're going to enter your password.
If you have problems, you can tap on "Having troubles signing in?" and that will take you back to an area where you can recover your account or password information.
Let's go back to the Welcome area.
We can sign in, again, or we can create another account. If I want to create an account, I tap on the Create Account button.
I need to enter in my first name, my last name, my email, and my password.
At that point, I'm going to receive a confirmation email. Once I've clicked on the confirmation email, I will be able to setup my account.
Let's tap back and go to Welcome area.
I'll show you how to sign-in. Tap on Sign-in and we are going to enter and email and a password. Give me one minute to enter the details on-screen.
Once you've entered in your username, your email, and your password, you can tap Sign-in, or you can tap Go to the bottom.
Both of those will take you to the sign-in page. Let's go ahead and tap on Go.
Now it's going to sign us in.
Now you can see a list of our files. I have my applications, my contents, my game files, my personal stuff, some things from some people who worked with me, screenshots, websites that I like, and of course my financial application - YNAB. You need a budget which we will have some demonstration videos on. You can change VisiHow for those sites. This is our first part here. These are our files.
Next, we have pictures.
You can tap on Pictures and it will give a list of all the photos that you have. These are currently short versions of VisiHow files and articles tat we have here.
Next, you have your Favorites.
These are your favorite files. This feature is particularly useful if you have several things that you are working on and you constantly shift the latest document or favorite. Perhaps you have a source document or a framework that indicates how future work or other files should be put together. For example, you may have a website master file or a wireframe from which your developers are working. Wireframe file is not going to change over a period of time. However, the things you are working on will change be newer so you want to mark that first "wireframe" for example, your wireframe, as a favorite. We also have some tutorials coming on how to use Azure. Just search VisiHow for that and you'll find them.
Finally, we have Settings.
You can tap on Settings. This will show you your email, how much space you've used and you can link a computer. When you link a computer, what DropBox does is it allows your computer to synchronize information automatically. You can upgrade your account to a paid account. You can turn ON Camera Upload. You can turn ON Passcode Lock. You can get help, Legal & Privacy (does not really matter), app version again is general.
One of the things that you want to look for is the option to tell your friends about DropBox.
Each time you tell a friend about DropBox and they sign up for DropBox, you get 500 megabytes of space - up to a maximum of 16 gigabytes of space. 16 gigabytes of file storage is quite a big free storage space. If you are pro user then obviously you want to upgrade otherwise, you won't need to do that.
When you are finished, what we are going to do is tap on Sign out from DropBox.
Tapping is going to open up a window which will give us the option to sign out or cancel.
If you do not want to sign out, press Cancel.
However, in my case, I do want to sign out.
Tap Sign Out and then let's Tap Sign Out again. Now we're signing out of DropBox which will take us back to the Sign-in screen.
At this point, we'll push our Home button on our phone one time - now, back on our Home screen.
A double press on the Home button will bring up DropBox, which we will swipe up to close; and the App Store, which we will also swipe up to close.
Now, tap on the Home screen and you're back on the Home screen.
From here, you can do anything that you'd like to do with your phone or you can switch back to using DropBox.
If you scroll over, you can see that there is a DropBox icon on this part of the screen which you can tap to, also, open DropBox.
This concludes our tutorial on downloading, installing and setting up DropBox on the iPhone 6.
Thanks for choosing VisiHow. Have a great day and we look forward to seeing you in some of our other videos.
