When someone has been in a long term relationship like that and hops to another relationship right away, the fact is they were never over the relationship in the first place. This means that you were competing with the ghosts from the past relationship the entire time whether you realized it or not. That is not fair to you. The possibility of getting her back is quite slim and your relationship would have a high secondary failure rate. Though it will be tough, focus on getting over her and moving on. The next time choose someone who is not immediately out of a long term relationship. You do not deserve to be competing with a past relationship for someone's love.
