How can I connect other micro HDMI cables to my notebook?

This is connecting my ASUS notebook to the TV. I have one cord that will connect my notebook to the TV with a micro HDMI end, and another 2 cords which will not, however, all three cords will display a signal on my TV when connected to my notebook. The working notebook cord is getting very worn out, so how can I use the other cords when this one will eventually break? Its regarding my notebook and tablet, not my Samsung mobile phone. I have tried: Cutting some of the plastic to expose more cord, doing a device search on my notebook, and double checking all cords and inputs are working/ connecting with at least 1 device. I think it was caused by: The worn out cord which does work in my notebook, was still attached to my notebook when it fell one night, so I am not sure if somehow they are physically damaged to ONLY connect to each other, which doesn't explain why I can use the same cord to connect to my tablet
