You have to take extra measures in protecting your vocal cords now as they recover. Avoid any dairy products, first- and second-hand smoking, alcohol, and other foods that are not beneficial for the voice. Start eating recommended foods and drinks and make a habit of drinking warm water or licorice root tea every few hours. You will need to take a break from your usual singing routine to let your vocal cords rest more and endeavour to keep silence (do not whisper either: it is stressful and unnatural) between rehearsals. You will need to humidify your studio or room by using a humidifier or a couple of buckets full of water in your room. Wear a scarf outside not to get your vocal cords too inflexible.

Gradually, as you feel more confident with your singing, start expanding your rehearsal time and vocal range. As soon as the throat hurts or the voice becomes harsh, stop singing for the day. If possible give your voice a day to heal before singing again. So your goal is to try not to sing more frequently than every other day.

This process may take up days, weeks, and months, depending on the nature of the injury. Recovery time is affected by how the injury was initiated, whether by over-straining or scalding your speech-producing organs with a hot beverage.

I am having trouble speaking loudly without sounding hoarse and bad, and I have a speech to present soon?

I presented a speech like this a week ago, and I was terrible. I could hardly hear what I was saying, and I had roughly a quarter of what my projection usually Is.. I have tried: I've tried drinking lots of water and talking as little as possible, (very hard in school). I think it was caused by: I'm not sure. I did have a cold about two weeks ago, if that helps.
