Will formatting my SD card erase my stored internal phone memory on the Samsung Galaxy S5?

I have installed a new 32GB SD card in my Samsung Galaxy 5S. If I use the formatting instructions in settings/storage/format SD card do I lose all my stored internal phone memory?

No, you will not lose your stored internal phone memory if you are only formatting the SD card. However, it is always best to back up your data. In your case you could back it up to your other SD card, and then wipe your new card. This is true for all memory card formatting steps. It is also worth pointing out that any time you need to perform a Factory Reset, your SD card should not be formatted, as a Factory Reset just resets the phone's internal memory. We still recommend backing up to be safe.

I want to know the solution to retrieve the data before formatting the SD card?

My problem is my SD card that has some data I want to retrieve before formatting the SD card

You will need to use a computer with a card reader. If the card reader has only a SD card input, then you will need a microSD-to-SD card adapter like this one. Insert the card into the adapter. Insert the adapter into the card reader. Copy the needed files to your computer.

It is recommended to check the microSD card for errors first. For example, in Windows, you can open File Explorer by pressing the Windows key and "E" and right-clicking the microSD card device letter. Then, click "Properties". Click the "Tools" tab. Click "Check". You will be able to scan the drive and fix the errors.

You can also install Kies and follow the steps in our tutorial on how to transfer files from Samsung GALAXY S4 (S5 works too) to PC and back.

How do I make SD card media show up?

Went from a Galaxy S3 to S5, but all my files do not show up in corresponding ways to use them. i.e.: Music doesn't show up in music player, photos do not show up in gallery. The only way I can find this media from SD card is to go to "My Files" on my phone and then "SD card", but anything I open/use doesn't save to music or gallery. How do I fix this? Without having to move all these things off my SD card to my phone's local storage, and using up all that local storage space?

I'm about to replace a very small capacity microSD card (4GB) with a larger capacity card (64GB). Is there a way I can move pictures from my old card onto my new card? I do not have a card reader, but I'm wondering if there is a way to put pics onto my laptop, then onto new card in phone. Or is there a better way? I've never transferred files from my phone to laptop.. I have tried: I've purchased the new card & haven't removed the old one yet.
