My Galaxy S2 is telling me there is insufficient space to install an app, but I have cleared caches etc and I think there is plenty of space?

I am thinking the directory structure may have been corrupted, but I would need to check it from my PC as I can't install any new apps! I have Android 4.0.4. Any suggestions please?
