Questions and Answers
I have a fingerprint password on my Samsung Galaxy S5 and it won't take thumb print and I don't know what to do?
I don't know how to get this off?
The Samsung Galaxy S5's fingerprint scanner is a fantastically secure and easy way to unlock your device -- and not have to worry about anybody else ever being able to unlock your device. Unfortunately, this high level of security can sometimes cause the scanner to reject your fingerprint, as well. Thankfully, when you set up your fingerprint scanner, you also set up an alternative password just in case the fingerprint scanner stopped working or it stopped recognizing your fingerprint. To get to the password enter screen, simply swipe your fingerprint until your phone asks you for the password. When you enter the password, the phone will unlock, allowing you to get back into your phone to use it again. If you want to remove the fingerprint lock, do the following:
- Open your Settings app.
- Navigate to Lock screen.
- Tap Screen lock.
- Tap whichever option you want.
- Follow the instructions.
Unfortunately, if you don't remember your Samsung Galaxy S5's alternative password, you will need to try logging into your Google account at this website. This will only work if you logged your device into a Google account before it was locked. From this website, you can unlock your device, call it, or wipe the data remotely. If you can't find your phone from this website, you will unfortunately need to perform a Factory Reset to get back into your device. This will wipe all of your phone's data. To learn how to perform a Factory Reset on your Samsung Galaxy S5, read through and follow the steps in this great VisiHow guide. Once the reset is done, be sure to log your device into a Google account so you don't have to perform a Factory Reset in the future.
