Note4 clone will not switch to WCDMA?

Hi there. My Note4 was given to me by an elderly friend who could not get it working.

I'm told is a clone. After factory reset, it is in Auto detect network mode, but will not connect to a network even after trying/using 2 different SIM/cell providers here in NZ. When I switch back to manual select, the GSM mode becomes locked and no other option can then be selected. Network connection is still not working. The cell networks are recognized, just not connecting. The IMEI checks out as not a locked phone. My cell providers have refused to help as both have stated it is a clone phone and they only work with original cellphones. Would love to have this phone up and running. Many thanks
