You may be able to unlock your Android phone without performing a Factory Reset (and thus losing your data) by entering your Google account information. Enter the wrong password up to 20 times; when your phone asks you for your Google account information, enter it. Your phone will unlock, and you will be able to either remove or change the password to something you can remember. If you don't know your Google account information, you can try to recover it by going to this website. If you're unable to recover your information, your phone doesn't ask for your Google account information, or if you never signed your phone into a Google account in the first place, you will unfortunately need to perform a Factory Reset to unlock your phone. This will wipe all of your phone's data. To learn how to perform a proper Factory Reset, read through and follow the steps in this great VisiHow article. Once the reset is complete, be sure to write down the password you choose for your phone, and also make sure to log your phone into a Google account to which you know the password so you don't have to perform a Factory Reset in the future if you forget your password again.
