I cannot view files from my Samsung Galaxy S4 when connect to my PC?

I cannot view files when connecting my phone to my PC. My OS is Windows 7. Another PC is using Windows server 2008

Unfortunately, due to compatibility issues most likely the Windows server 2008 might not recognize your phone, thus making it unable to view your files in your computer. You should have I think, a Windows XP, vista, Windows 7 or 8 to be able to view your files in your computer. But to view all the files you will actually need a software to do so. The software is called Samsung Kies, it is a software that is installed in a computer to enable synchronization between the computer and the Samsung device.

You may use Samsung Kies to copy photos from your PC to your Phone and vice versa. To do that, please follow the steps below.

  • Connect your phone to your PC, via USB cable.
  • Samsung Kies will then open automatically. If not, manually open it by double clicking the Samsung Kies icon on your desktop.
  • You can now transfer photos from your PC to your phone and vice versa.

Import video files from my Samsung Galaxy S4 to my PC?

Hi I have already imported all the pictures to the PC but the I can´t find the videos in the camera map. They are in the phone but I can not find them when I connect the phone to the PC.

Usually, it is in the Video folder or along with the camera pictures (unless taken using another app). If using Kies, simply check the videos back up and it will detect the video. On your phone, you can highlight the video and choose "details" on the 3 dotted icon on the top right. It will show you where it is stored so you can follow the path when getting the videos.

I need to free up storage on my S4?

By downloading my videos to my PC

I have done this on my device many times when needed to free up some space or simply place the video on my computer for safe keeping. I will instruct you on what to do after you plug your device up to your computer:

-Plug the device up to the computer using your USB chord

-On your computer open up the files on your device which will pop up after plugging it into the computer

-Make a folder on your desktop for the files you are going to place in just to label it for your records

-In the phones folder click on DCIM

-Locate the video

-Drag the video from the phones folder to the folder you created on your desktop

-From here the video will copy itself to your computer

These steps are what I have used to copy my videos from my S4 to my computer. After copying delete the video from your device.

I would like to back up my Samsung Galaxy S4 to my Laptop but its not working?

I want everything backed up but when I plug my phone into the Laptop its not even showing any photos

This is sometimes a trial and error kind of process. You would need to attach your device several times to your PC before it finally recognizes your device.

It may also help that before you attach your Galaxy S4 to your PC, you open your photo gallery first through your phone. There is no technical explanation why this would help your PC to recognize your device but it has worked most of the time for most people.

I have the same problem as in this post. I can import all the photos from my phone, and I can see them, but it leaves out the videos?

Videos are not being imported. When I check to see where they are on my phone, then I check the phone from my PC, they are not there. But I can see them on my phone with all my other photos, in Gallery.

Hello, can you tell me if you are seeing this live?

I'm having trouble seeing any of my Android Galaxy S4's files on my PC. It has worked flawlessly in the past. What used to happen when connecting to laptop via USB: "connected as an installer", which I would then change to "connect as media device" and all was good. Now, the phone does not offer these options, and only charges. The laptop does not recognize the phone either.

When I plug my Note4 into my laptop I do get 3 options to choose from, I choose the view files (this worked before) it brings up my phone's files but they are all empty. If I exit that and go into my start menu/computer/and look at portable devices. I can see my Samsung there as well. However when I click on that the files are empty as well. How do I retrieve my files on my laptop?
