I am just not sure if this is exactly what I need to do?
There is an exceptional amount of backstory to this, but this will have to do for now. I got a DUI 15 years ago (2001), I served 4 months in prison and obviously my license was suspended. It is now 2016, I have two children (had no kids then), I was recently diagnosed with cancer and have a serious NEED to drive now. I have about $1,000 in court fines associated with this case, and in order to get my license back I either have to pay these fines or ask the judge to waive; dismiss; I don't know....Please advise as to what exactly I would be asking the judge or the court for, and the best way to write that letter or motion. Thank you so much in advance for your consideration on this matter. This case is extremely dated, and my circumstances and situation has changed dramatically. In addition, I am not certain as to what exactly I am asking the judge or the court to do. I have tried: I really haven't "tried" anything other than doing everything that the court has ordered for me to do, except pay the exorbitant fines. I am on a very limited budget and cannot pay the fines without forcing homelessness on myself and my two children, but I would lose my job if I was homeless anyway. I think it was caused by: My own stupid decision to drink and drive back in 2001, one month after the death of my mother, who passed away from cancer ( I took care of her solely for 2.5 years prior to her death).
