My iPhone 5 will not charge after a potential spill. What can I do?

My iPhone 5 may have gotten some red wine spilled on it, but it was immediately wiped off, and the device had no functioning issues for a while. I only noticed later that it would not charge. The cord does not appear to fully insert into the charge port.

If your Apple iPhone 5 is suffering from charging issues after you spilled red wine on it, it's very likely that you have damaged the Lightning cable connector port on your device, despite wiping down the device as soon as it was spilled on. Take a flashlight and look inside each of your iPhone 5's compartments -- the 3.5mm headphone jack, the Lightning port, and the SIM card slot -- to see if there are any red pieces of paper. These red pieces of paper show Apple's technicians that the device has been exposed to some sort of moisture or liquid, which is why it's been damaged. If you see red, you will have to pay Apple for the repair, or you will have to replace your device. However, if you don't see red, you may not have to pay for any repairs; your Lightning connector port may simply be malfunctioning, which Apple will repair for for free -- or they'll give you a replacement. You can call Apple's customer support line, or for faster service, you can go to your nearest Apple Store to use the Genius Bar.
