I'm having a black screen on my computer. Are there any answers for me?

When I turn on my laptop, get to Windows login, and then login, if I try to open a browser or any of my games, the computer shows a black screen. I'm unsure what to do here. I have tried: System restore. I reinstalled graphics cards and reset BIOS and CMOS. I think it was caused by: I'm unsure.

This may happen in the event of either corrupted Windows installation or the hard drive becoming full.

Boot into the safe mode by pressing "F8" when loading Windows 7. Then, select "Safe Mode". Press the Windows key and type "cmd". Press "Enter". Put your Windows 7 DVD into the optical disc drive and type "sfc /scannow" to repair your Windows copy. If you do not have the DVD, then you can download and burn a Windows 7 ISO here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7. Reboot your computer. Check if the problem persists.

If the problem reoccurs, then enter the Safe Mode again. Press the Windows key and type "msconfig". Press "Enter". In the "Services" tab, "Hide all Microsoft services". Click "Disable all". Click the "General" tab. Click the "Selective startup". Uncheck "Load startup items". Reboot your computer and see if it works. If it does, then one of the start-up programs is causing the Windows to crash.

If any of these lead to a black screen again, then clean some files first. Again, boot into the safe mode by pressing "F8" when loading Windows 7. Choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt". Find some files to delete by changing directories ("CD /directory name") (where directory name is a folder that you wish to enter). List the contents of the current directory by using the list directory command ("dir"). Maybe you have a large 1 GB file you can download later that you can delete. To delete a file, type "Del filename.extension" (where "filename.extension" is the file). Be careful not to delete something useful: if you are not sure what the file is, then do not touch it. Reboot your PC afterwards by typing "exit".
