Samsung S3 stuck in boot loop, factory reset didn't work?

Cache wipe didn't work, factory reset didn't work. I guess the next step is to flash the ROM? It had the original stock firmware on it. My best option is to flash the ROM with an SD card, but I have never done this before. The article ends with factory reset, after which everything is back to the way it should be. However, the factory reset didn't work for me. I have tried: Android recovery mode: first I wiped the cache, when that didn't work I did a factory reset. That didn't work either. I think it was caused by: The screen was flickering when the battery was running out for a couple days, until yesterday it suddenly went from the home screen to the boot page and didn't move from that.
