If your WiFi is protected that means the offender has figured out your password or hacked into your WiFi router. These are steps you should consider taking to secure your WiFi

  1. 1
    Change your WiFi password

  2. 2
Change the encryption protocol in your WiFi router's setup screen.
WEP is the least secure. Don't use it because its weaknesses are heavily documented and programs exist anyone can run to break into your network. Switch to WPA or WPA2 if your router supports it.

  3. 3
If you are using WPA then switch to WPA2 because its more secure.
If it is not an option in your WiFi wireless router's setup then you will need to upgrade your router's firmware by flashing it with the latest ROM image. Before you decide that is too complicated for you to do, relax it is not. It sounds complicated by its actually very easy. Just follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. It only takes about 5 minutes.

Despite having fun internet for our apartment it seems that someone starts downloading and draws the entire internet connection and my latency gets quite high. I do not have access to my routers password or username and tried the defaults which didn't work, is there any tool to limit the bandwidth usage or disconnect them

Must I download a software before I block an unwanted user?

One of the staff gave out the WiFi password to an outsider, so each time you go to the network icon of the computer you find that this outsider's computer is among the computers on the network. He uses the network from his office which is next to ours and so he can access all the shared resources on our computers

Thank GOD a professional? You are an angel, thank you for any advise, too many options on my laptop?

I feel that someone else is using my computer, it states multiple users but we have son, on router, husband and I and son on phone, and the iPad. My computer is very sluggish, and I am in school and crashes have been occurring more and more, using McAfee with my internet company seems to be working but a lot of options and not sure which ones are right. I am trying but if you can help. I feel maybe I should not have any users on my WiFi and keep marking as intruders and more keep coming and I'm using to a military grade safe computer. But read do not add the one option it would block too much.. ugh help... I would really appreciate you, because I put my computer on a home group to get it private and no sharing but I have to share internet with son, keeps changing to print share.. and I have a program called sync, since my last employer I think he was just watching me the whole time, sick to think, but I don't know. I just want proper settings I use McAfee, and it seems to work but more intruders pop up. I have a laptop, and my son games a lot and he has the router connected to him. What is your personal opinion on what to do to protect all of us is McAfee OK?. I have tried: McAfee recently had normal windows essentials, I thought McAfee would be the greatest thing, but I am not sure anymore? lagging, updating all the time even if I add times to scan. I have found it useful for removing and shredding etc. but I find myself looking for other users and or people stealing my WiFi instead of focusing on my work which is important to me.. I think it was caused by: Accessed my work with lasted TWO WEEKS WiFi and the printers from them since then.. maybe to many options on this lovely Toshiba its a touchscreen and allows me to do anything but when so many letters, numbers come up and I still see multiple users it scares the bejesus out of me
