How to recover my singing voice after 8 years of smoking?

Ad

If you've already stopped smoking, that's a great first step. Smoking will hurt not only your lungs, which will prevent you from filling your diaphragm to its fullest, but it can also hurt your vocal cords. Not smoking immediately starts the healing process for your lungs, throat, and vocal cords. You can also try drinking lemon tea with honey to help your vocal cords and throats heal, as well. While you may never be able to achieve your pre-smoking voice ever again, taking the right steps -- including exercise and a healthy diet -- will get you very close. Seeing a voice coach could also help you learn to use your new singing voice as best you can.

How do I get my voice back after smoking for 7 years?

I've been smoking for 7 years. Up until the 5 years mark I have always been able to sing, had a good range, and my voice never cracked. Now I'm having difficulties holding a note and my range has narrowed. What can I do to best heal my voice and get my control back? Will I ever have the range I used too?
