How to know if my motherboard is working?

When I turn ON my computer it has nothing displayed on the monitor and also no beeps and I removed the RAM and I placed it again and nothing happened. How to fix it? Thanks!

Before determining if your motherboard is what causing the problem, you should first check the hard drive (or hard drives), the graphics card and the power supply. Checking the RAM was a good idea because that is often what causes problems, but usually not start up problems like that. If this just happened all of a sudden it is likely some kind of lose cord or a broken component, like your graphics card, CPU (processor) or hard drive, but those types of things don't just suddenly break normally, instead they tend to give you signs of wear and eventually die. However, if all of this stuff is new and your motherboard is new then it could easily just be a defective part.

Without being able to turn on your computer at all it will be hard to test any of that, but first check everything you can before assuming it is the motherboard because that is the major piece of hardware in your computer that everything connects to in some way. If you check everything and make sure it is all in correctly, then you'd have to go through the painful process of returning and getting new versions of whatever piece of hardware you suspect to be malfunctioning. In this case you would probably just start with the motherboard and then go through piece by piece in order to try to determine which part is specifically malfunctioning or defective.

My question is about a tablet. and I would LOVE some insight?

I have a Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition. It is the love of my life. The charging port messed up on it so I tried to charge it a really stupid way through a cable directly to the battery. I ended up frying the battery. So I got a new charging port and new Samsung tablet battery, installed both perfectly, the tablet shows that it charges if I plug it into the wall charger, but when I turn on my tablet, it says within less than a minute of turning it on "your tablet is overheating. all processes have been terminated and tablet will shut down to prevent overheat" the tablet does not feel hot, this is the same thing it was doing before I got a new battery. what do I do? I really want some application data off of it

How can I check if my Hudl 2 motherboard is dead?

I attempted to charge my Hudl 2 with its proper Hudl 2 charger overnight, checking to make sure that it was charging. In the morning it refused to come on, with nothing to show that there was any life in it, dead as a dodo apparently. You are probably aware that charging problems with the Hudl 2 are not unusual, but mine (at least a year old) has been no problem apart from running out of charge quickly. I've tried the trick of holding down the power button and volume button, but nothing. From research on the internet, it appears that there are three possible solutions, change the battery, the charging port, or the motherboard. I bought and fitted a new battery but that didn't work. I have had no trouble with the charging port and have been very careful inserting the charging cable. So it seems that the motherboard is the most likely. It will cost about £60 to repair, which is actually more than we paid Tesco for it brand new with Clubcard points. Before I go down that route how can I tell whether it is faulty?

Is my graphic card dead or is my motherboard failing?

Yesterday my computer stopped displaying to my monitor. Neither device manager nor BIOS detected my Nvidia GTX770 in my system. I tried a second graphics card that I know works and the system didn't pick that one up either. Does this indicate that my motherboard is the culprit?

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

If you are sure that the second graphic card you tested on your motherboard is valid, then yes, most likely your Motherboard is defected, or at least the Graphic card slot is. To be more sure about it, you can try your Graphic card on another PC.

My Sony Vaio Laptop does not turn ON at all. Is my motherboard dead?

My Sony Vaio laptop, not one but two have recently stopped working completely.

Laptop 1: The laptop's battery wasn't giving much time and would go down in less than 15 minutes. It also had heating problems as it was over 4 years old. It stopped turning ON. The laptop did not respond to the charger nor other chargers (no signs of charging nor turning ON as none of the light indicators turn ON) as well as with the new battery I bought for it. I also tested the motherboard for voltage and it showed no response to the voltmeter.

Laptop 2: The laptop was heating up in just a few hours of use and it was working well before it stopped working completely. It stopped charging and then hasn't responded at all after that. I've not been able to check for the motherboard as I don't have the voltmeter with me at the moment.

My Toshiba Satellite Laptop - L850 model is dead?

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L850 model which I presume is dead. It has 3 LED lights indicators; the first one indicates that the machine is operating on battery or on AC charger, the second indicates that the machine is on, and the third indicates it is on WiFi. When I press the power button, it powers ON but the screen is black (no splash screen of Toshiba, or BIOS information, etc..). I can hear the noise of the fan, the hard disk spins, but no rattle of the hard disk. The first and second LED lights are also ON.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

My diagnostic are as follows;

1) I tried to remove the battery and re-insert it back and powered it ON, no screen.

2) I tried to remove the battery and use direct AC adapter, no screen.

3) I connected the laptop to an external monitor via VGA, no screen.

4) I removed the hard disk and disc drive, no screen.

5) I swapped to another same model RAM, no screen.

6) I removed the CMOS battery and installed a new one, no screen.

7) When I press the power button while the system is ON, the laptop switch OFF instantly.

I tested the RAM, AC adapter and LCD screen onto another machine and they are operational. Unfortunately I couldn't test my CPU.

My conclusion: the motherboard and/or the CPU might be dead.

I want to repair my laptop. My question, how do I know that the motherboard is faulty or the processor? Best regards

Is my Acer E-157-1 Motherboard dead?

When I press the power button, I see nothing except the power led on for 5 seconds and goes back off. Is my motherboard dead or its just my processor fan that could be dead and so my system is refusing to power on to prevent the extremely high temperature?. It started when I was watching a movies with my charger plugged in and suddenly the laptop started to heat up exponentially and went off.. . I can see the battery charging indicator turn on when I plug in the charger.. The laptop doesn't turn on either when I remove the battery and try to on it. Its the same behaviour as when there is the battery fitted in.

There are no lights on motherboard, no display?

My new power supply pop and now it is not working. My old power supply all fans spin but no post beep or display. Will a shorted motherboard cause a power supply to go dead? What does a bad CPU do or not do? Thank you!

I believe my Motherboard may be dead and have exhausted many trouble shooting methods?

I have an HP Pavilion desktop. while using it, my keyboard and then mouse has stopped working so I hard restart it. When I did, it did not seem to POST or give the monitor a signal. I took out HD and connected to a laptop with an adapter and it works fine. I then first took out & put back in the CMOS battery, then I replaced it altogether. Then I did the CMOS jump, still no dice. The 2 CD drives seem to make noise during the reboots but when I put boot discs in them, nothing happens and no video on monitor. I don't have a spare PSU to try.

Moto G 1st Gen Mobile is dead. Only notification LED turn ON and goes OFF after few seconds if I put for charge?

Hi friend. I had to charge in my friend's car. As soon as I plugged the USB, Display went blue and mobile went OFF. It didn't turn ON afterwards and it is not responding to the buttons. I tried pressing power button for more than 5 minutes and also tried pressing power button + volume down button. I tried all possible combinations (with+without connected to charger) but none helped. People say my motherboard is dead/short circuited when I plugged in CAR USB. If that's the case, my friend used to charge in car daily but he has not faced this issue. And if motherboard is dead, How could notification LED alone comes and goes off. Kindly help me!
