How to factory reset my phone with losing my data and time on my phone?

My phone is becoming slow.and when I have factory reset my old phones it made it go faster. if I back up my photos on my laptop I can put them back on after right? My phone is acting slow and I don't want to lose the data and time that I have on my phone. I have tried: Deleting apps and photos and anything else that I could possibly delete that I didn't need on my phone. I think it was caused by: It's an old phone or I have a virus on my phone. I thought factory rest might help
