My voice is too hard like an aunt, but I'm a teenager so what can I do?

When you're a teenager, your body is going through a great many changes. This is known as puberty, and no doubt you've heard about it, but one of the things it changes is your voice. During puberty, you have to be particularly careful with your voice, as you can hurt it trying to reach notes you're temporarily unable to reach. It's a little bit like having a cold, where your vocal cords are strained from being sick. Then, when you're singing and trying to hit high notes, you can hurt your voice.

Because of this, you'll want to take some voice lessons, or talk to someone who can coach you. There are many singers who will offer voice lessons over Skype, at a low cost. You can then record the lesson, and go back over it later, so that you're able to learn faster. When you're doing that, mix in some helpful home remedies to increase your range when singing.

How can I have a harsh singing voice?

I know its the opposite of what most people want but I have a soft sweet voice and I want it to be rough for singing rocky songs?

One of the things people with a more harsh and gravelly singing voice do to make their voices more heavy is to consume sugary products. Sugary products, and also products high in starch, will contribute to increasing the amount of mucus in your throat. This will make your voice have that more raspy heavy sound. However, you need to be careful, as you'll need to sing harder, and try harder to reach notes and make yourself heard if you're not using a microphone. In fact, sometimes when you're on stage, you might be trying to perform the impossible feat of singing over an amplified guitar. So make sure the sound guy has things set up properly, and that your monitors are also clean, and adjusted to an acceptable level.

At 15 years of age, you're going through puberty. That means your hormones are going crazy, your body is growing, and your voice is very likely going to get deeper and stronger. However, you'll still be able to sing high notes - but not consistently, until puberty stops and your voice evens out. Even then, it may never be what it was when you were younger.

For example, the famed Vienna Boys Choir, which consists of about 100 boys from 10 to 14, is renowned for the high and sweet notes their boys can sing. However, at about age 14, and sometimes earlier, puberty starts. When that happens, they are unable to perform like they once did. It's just a fact of life.

I want to change my voice to be sweeter?

Very rough voice not at all sweet. I am interested in singing.

Remember that for every singer, there is an ear to appreciate the voice. Focus on what you can do, and don't strain your voice trying to sing too sweetly. Instead, cycle from your normal voice to a falsetto, and practice the sweeter and more difficult sounds early in your warm up. Make sure when you practice, that you drink lots of water. Also don't forget to stand up, instead of sitting. You'll also want to sing from the diaphragm. Another great pointer is to use more vibrato, even though that's often something many professionals and instructors frown on. The reason for that is that by using vibrato, you can push up a little higher over time, and sweeten your voice through practice and hard work.

  5. 5
    Drink lots of water.
Water is the best thing you can do for your voice, and your body. Drink lots of water, but not too cold. Cold water can tighten your vocal cords a bit, and then you can strain them if you're talking too much or too loudly.
