Being Happy Is Easier Than You Think
"If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands". Being happy is a state of mind and when we are happy it shows on our face. It is a natural process and we really don't need to learn how to be happy. Nowadays people are so stressed that they have forgotten how to be happy and need to be reminded how easy it is to switch that mood around.
We face stress everywhere in our life, in the house, in office, even when doing simple things like driving in traffic, or standing in a long queue while shopping. Is being happy in today's world that difficult? We all have difficult days when we are sad, angry or depressed due to certain events in our life, but staying in that condition doesn't help. You have to come out of it to face the situation and do something about it. Sometimes it just takes five minutes to lighten up your mood and get into the happy mode again. Let us follow some basic and simple solutions to be happy and make this world a happier place.
Be grateful and count your blessings.
There are days when everything goes against you. This makes you upset or unhappy. This is the time to be grateful for what you have received in life and thank god for that. When we recall in our mind the things we are grateful for, it sends positive emotions of love and gratitude and replaces negative emotions. There are so many things you can count your blessing for, like having a roof over your head, having awesome children, or a good job, mainly all the basic things in life that should keep us happy and content. Then tell yourself that there are more things to be happy about and few things to be sad for. So cheer up!!
Appreciate yourself and others.
Don't look down upon yourself. Appreciate yourself for what you are and what you have reached. If you are happy with yourself, then, and only then you will be truly happy. Remember that it is not just about you and stop complaining about others. Our basic nature is to criticize, so let's for once start appreciating others as this will make others happy and in turn send you good vibes. Appreciating things around us also helps to uplift our mood, so stop complaining.
Be in the company you love.
Sometimes when you are not feeling great, being in the presence of the right company will change your mood in an instant. So when you are feeling low or sad, be with someone who makes you happy.
- Pick up your phone and chat with your best friend.
- Meet your sister or mother, brother or father.
- Go out for a date with your partner.
- Cook a meal and invite over your near and dear ones.
- Look at the old pictures of loved ones that bring back happy memories.
Time to enjoy nature.
Being with Mother Nature has the most calming and soothing effect on us. If you have time, go out to the countryside and relax without the hustle bustle of the city. If you don't have time, you can still enjoy the nature in the city. Wake up early go out in the park or garden and watch the sunrise, listen to birds chirping, watch the butterflies and walk barefoot on the grass. Start your day with a happy note and you will be calm throughout the day.
Laughter is the best medicine.
Laugh your heart out and it will immediately cheer you up. It is not necessary that you need a reason to laugh. Have you have ever watched those videos where people laugh loudly in silly situations? It seems they are crazy but it is a very good therapy to calm yourself. So when you are feeling low and have no reason to laugh just busting out into laughter may help come out of your situation.
Learn from children.
Have you ever noticed how carefree children are and how they're not really bothered about what's happening in the world? Yes, we can't ignore what's happening around us but we can learn a few things from them about happiness. When they get hurt, they cry, and within minutes they're fine. We should try to be like that. We get stressed and upset, but we should really learn how to come out of it quickly. Let's be childlike and do some of the following silly things.

Also, see yourself joyful and content. When you slowly open your eyes, you will be filled with new positive energy.
When you are feeling blue, one of the best methods to uplift your mood by listening to your favorite music. As we listen to music, it works on our autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for controlling blood pressure, heartbeat and the limbic system. This helps to generate positive emotions. Participating in "music making" equally helps to uplift your mood. You will feel like you are in some other world by just singing or playing an instrument.

When we do something for others we tend to forget our problems and feel happy that we could be of some help to others. We all seek love in the form of recognition and we feel happy if someone praises us for what we have done for others.

When your family and loved ones appreciate the work you've done, there is a sense of achievement and satisfaction.

At home, you can put pictures of your family members, your children, and any artwork you admire At your office, fresh flowers on your desk will put a smile on your face. Looking at any of these things can make you happy instantly. You read quotes to motivate yourself or write down your achievement and stick on your cubicle wall. Read them when you are feeling low and you immediately feel good about yourself.
Wash your stress away.

If you are a pet lover, then petting your dog or cat can be a great stress reliever. Stroking your cat or dog can lower your blood pressure and make you feel calmer. Keep your environment clean.
We don't realize it, but when our surroundings are messy we end up being cranky or irritated. When you're suddenly irritated and not sure why, look at the place around you. If it is not clean, just take some time in organizing the office desk or cleaning the piles of dishes in the kitchen. The task looks daunting, but most of the time it doesn't take more than few minutes to clean up. A clean environment gives you a very happy feeling.
Thinking negative thoughts can make you sad. Even if you are going through difficult times think positively and it will immediately make a difference in how you look at things. Positive thinking helps to you have more confidence in dealing with a situation. When you feel sad and think that you will give up, just stop your mind from going to that direction and think positively. You will immediately feel better and stronger.

The company you keep has great influence on your mood and if you're constantly dealing with negative and unhappy people, you will tend to be unhappy in life. There are people who will try to inflict negativity on you because it makes them feel better about themselves. You need to be aware of these people and stay away from them. When you are feeling low and the people around you make your situation worse, just remove yourself from the situation or stop any conversation with them. Protect your positive mind from any kind of negative feelings. Instead, be with people whom who make you think and feel positive.
