MTP failure going from Samsung Galaxy S4 to Samsung Chromebook S3?

On the Samsung Galaxy S4 I chose MTP. and then the Chromebook flashes up the contents of the phone but it stays up for only about 10 secs and then the menu disappears from the Laptop. When the menu is up there is no SD card to click on. Can you help me figure out this problem?

The MTP connection between your Galaxy S4 and Chromebook won't push through because Chromebook does not support MTP transfer yet; developers are already looking at way for it though.

What you can do now is to do the transfer from your phone to your SD card. Then from the SD card, move the files to your Chromebook using a memory card reader.

You can also opt to sync your Google+ to your Galaxy S4 and Chromebook to automatically sync and upload files to a Google's cloud drive. You can check on this article on how to Instantly Upload Pictures and Videos Using Google+ on Samsung Galaxy S4.

For other else, you can always make use of Airdroid's free service that allows you to Transfer Files from Galaxy S4 to PC Using Wi-Fi.

While connecting using the MTP connection, you must ensure that your device are not getting disconnected when it suddenly sleep or the screen turns block. There are actually some cases that due to screen lock and sleep option of the device the connections gets disconnected. So, you should try to set the settings that would make your device disconnected while it is on standby mode or if the screen goes black.

How can I transfer data from my computer to my Samsung S4 via USB?

I want to know how to transfer data from my Windows XP computer to my S4

You need to download Samsung Kies. Samsung Kies CD will be available with your phone. If not load it from the internet. Kies is Samsung's official driver for Windows that is used for transferring data. You can download Kies from here - http://www.samsung.com/in/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP Choose "download for Windows" option. Once you have downloaded Kies, things should be fairly easy. Connect your phone to your PC via USB and Kies will open automatically. You can then transfer data on Kies and it will get transferred to your phone. If your PC doesn't recognize your phone, go to "My Computer" and open your phone's folder from there. It should be showing up an extra folder with your phone's name on it.

I can't drag my audio files into my Samsung Note3 to sync?

I have Windows media player open and my Laptop has recognized my Samsung Note3 but when I go to drag my audio files to the sync square,,, it won't allow me to, a little block up appears at the corner of the file and it does not drag.. ??

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

Use this method instead, it far more easier. Here is what you can do to copy audio files from your computer to your Note3:

  • connect Note3 to PC using USB data cable
  • drag notification icon down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  • you will then be at USB PC connection screen. Make sure that you check MTP (Media Device)
  • open folder icon or My Computer
  • You will see your phone's name
  • open `music` folder
  • drag or copy/paste audio files you wish to add in this folder

If this is not working then drag the music file from Windows media player into your devices folder so that the transfer can complete itself successfully.

How can I transfer my files on my Samsung Galaxy S4 to my PC?

I cannot because I cannot download "Android file transfer" because www.android.com does not work for my country

For one thing, Android File Transfer is a Mac program. You will need Samsung's sync software for your PC in order to make the transfer. It's called Kies and you can download it here:

www.samsung.com/us/kies

For this, you'll need the micro USB to USB cable that came with your phone to connect to your PC.

There are other ways to transfer files from your phone to your PC. If you have a microSD USB card reader, you can simply load the files from your phone to the microSD using a file manager app and then taking it out and transfer them to the PC using the card reader.

Another option is through wireless transfer. If both your PC and S4 phone are on the same WiFi network, you can install an app called WiFi File Transfer from the Play Store to send files to your PC. It's a free app, and you can find it here:

HI! I need help with transferring files from Samsung S4 to my Macbook pro?

I am trying to digitise my mother's medical records. I do not have access to a scanner. I have taken pictures of all pages on my S4 and was hoping to transfer to my Macbook and then create pdf of the reports.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

1. unable to transfer. Using Kies. It is the slowest thing ever and not downloading some images.

2. How do I convert to pdf. There are about 86 pages. Need to convert all to pdf and combine some pages into the same pdf.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you don't mind doing the conversion on your Galaxy S4 phone, you can try this app called Image to PDF from the Google Play Store. Check out the app here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Image_to_PDF_Converter_2&hl=en

If you still need to transfer the pictures to your Macbook and Kies is not working for you, I suggest you do a cloud storage share/transfer. Just sign up for a dropbox account on the S4 and upload all the images needed. Sign in to the same account from the Macbook Pro and download the pictures.

XP thinks my Galaxy S4 is a camera?

Plugging in my Galaxy S4 has somehow installed a camera driver and lists the phone in the control panel under scanners and cameras and not as a USB device.

How do I fix this?

As stated in this article, older versions of computers do not support MTP or Media Transfer Protocol. Since you are using Windows XP which is an older Operating system, it is possible that your computer detects your Galaxy S4 as a Camera. But even if this is the case, you can still transfer files from your phone to your computer using PTP.

You can install a newer Operating System on your computer if you don't want to see your phone as a camera.

Cannot open JPG files on computer?

I just bought a Galaxy S4 today. I am trying to take a picture and then email it to my email that way I can save it to my computer. When I open the email on my computer the picture will not open. I have tried different sizing with no success. Can you help me?

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

Make sure you sent the jpg file with your email as an attachment and it's not exceeding the file limit of the email app that you're using. If all is correct, try sending again and see if the jpg can be viewed on your PC.

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

An alternate method you can send the jpg to your computer is with the Google drive app. On your S4, install the Google Drive app from the Play Store. Use the same Google account you use on the phone and sign in and upload the jpg file. On your PC, use your browser and sign in to Google drive here:

Again, using the same Google account, sign in and look for the jpg file and you can download it as a hard copy to your PC.

Tethering will not turn on in Samsung Galaxy S4?

Give me a lot of options in order to do this

Tethering is often done when you would like your other devices to have internet connection access.

If it doesn't want to turn on, you may want to try alternating the two options available to do this. One is using your Galaxy S4 as a WiFi hotspot. Make sure this option us turned on at the connectivity settings. If this does not work out, you can try the USB option, which is to plug in your device onto your computer and enable the tethering from there. Technically, this should easily work. If not, you may want to do a restart of your computer and device and then try again.

Blank screen on Samsung 4 trying to transfer photos?

My screen on my Samsung S4 is completely blank , the phone turns on , how can I transfer photos from phone to Windows 8?

Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer them if the screen is blank since you have no way of turning on the USB feature. I suggest bringing your phone to the nearest service center. If your files are saved on the SD card, simply turn off the phone and remove the SD card. If not, ask your technician if there is a way to back the data up or will you be losing any data when replacing the LCD. Next time, make it a habit to back up your data (online sync or by USB).
