At some point I must have set the call volume on my S4 mini to high, but now it starts EVERY call that way. even though I have turned it down every time. any suggestions?

It can be either a bug that has been reported by many users of S4 mini, a setting, or a software problem. There might be several solutions to your problem.

  • To access the setting, press the home button. Tap on "Apps", "Settings", "My Device", and "Call". Uncheck "Increase volume in pocket".
  • When you hear the wrong volume, move the phone away from your ear, wait for the screen to light up, increase the volume to the desired loudness, wait for the volume slider to disappear, and resume talking. This should save the setting.
  • There might be some installed third-party volume-control applications interfering with the volume. You will have to locate and uninstall them.
  • If it is a bug, use a volume control application like Volume Control, which will allow you to set different volumes for various events and actions on the phone, including the call volume.
  • Update your phone software. You can refer to our tutorial on how to do that.

How do I turn down the start up and turn off signal volume on the Samsung Galaxy S4?

When turning my phone off or on I'd like the notification signal to be more quiet. Is there a way to set it to a lower volume automatically?

The powering on notification can be very annoying, especially at night when you want to turn your phone on without waking up everyone. In order to turn off the start up notification sounds, you need to install the Startup Manager app, which you can use it to enable silent boot. Follow the steps below to install and use this app on your Samsung Galaxy S4:

I cannot turn up the notification volume on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Active?

My phone isn't on vibrate and everything is turned up all the way. but when I go to settings>sound>volume, I cannot move the slider for the notifications.

Are you sure your phone isn't on silent mode when you are attempting to do this? This is a common cause of volume problems. Even when everything is turned up to max, an accidental bum of the switch can put it in silent mode.

If you've double checked the switch, then shut down your phone, and take the battery out. Wait about 10 seconds, and then put the battery back in. This will soft reset the phone, closing all open applications that could be interfering with your volume controls.

One of the most common apps that causes this problem is 'Open Mic'. If you have Open Mic turned on, it will interfere with your volume controls, until you turn off the app.

Does the Galaxy S5 have a volume lock feature?

I had a Moto Droid Bionic until two months ago. It performed admirably for 3 years. I bought a new Galaxy S5(not S6 or S7). and I am still getting acquainted with it.. Now: Almost everyday the volume will zero out, and I will miss hearing ringtone. The vol controls are on left side, at the hand grip point, opposite the on/off switch, so I am fairly sure I am the one who is causing this problem. . . I did see a post regarding a lockdown app for the S4 available at Play Store.

Galaxy S4 rocker button stuck on media?

Recently I've noticed that the volume up/down button is no longer controlling ringtone. It's doing media volume control but I don't have any media running on the phone. It's not automatically switching back to controlling ringtone. The only way I have to get it back on ringtone is to restart the phone. Any ideas?
