How do I reset my phone if I've forgotten the lockscreen pin?

My Sony Xperia SL is locked and I want to Hard Reset it. How can I do this? Is there any other way to unlock my phone?

Ad

Performing a Hard Reset doesn't technically unlock your phone. Instead, it erases all of your data and resets the phone back to the last Android OS update's default settings. Because of this many users prefer to unlock their phones using a method that won't erasing all of their data and settings.

How can I access my phone when I don't know the password?

My Ex-boyfriend thought it to be funny to put a password on my phone and refuses to give me the password so I can't access my phone. I don't want to lose anything on my phone as it is not backed up. So I'm trying to gain access to it.
