The native emoji keyboard described in the article below requires a rooted device. If your device is rooted, follow the instructions below to install the keyboard. However, if your device is not rooted, you won't be able to install this particular keyboard. Thankfully, there is a different keyboard that you can use without rooting your device and that will work on your Samsung Galaxy S2:

  • Once you've set the Google Keyboard as your default keyboard, open up an application that you want to use Emoji in.
  • When the keyboard pops up, tap and hold the enter key until you see a smiley face.
  • Drag your finger over the smiley face and let go.
  • You will now see a large list of Emoji that you can use. Tap the emoji you want to insert.

You have successfully installed an emoji keyboard on your non-rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 that will allow you to use Emoji in any application that supports them.
