The option "USB Tethering" is off, how can I turn it on?

Hi, I want to make a backup of my LG G2, but I can't transfer anything to my PC. When I connect my phone to my PC it doesn't show as a drive or something and when I start LG Suite, specially made to transfer media to your PC, it can't find it. Neither with the WiFi connection. So I searched online and found that I have to turn the USB tethering on... of course there is another problem. The option to turn it on is grayed out and can't be turned on. How do I fix this?

Is your cable damaged? The USB tethering option is turned on once you connect to the PC. Then swipe down the notification bar and it will be there unless the cable is damaged. Also, make sure you have the latest version of LG's PC Suite.

Please help asap. I have even tried the hardware thing and it nearly crashed my phone. My parents and friends have tried different cables computers etc., but nothing is working. I don't want to factory reset because then all of my photos are gone. I have checked the user manual as well and it doesn't say anything about what to do in this situation

Download the Google Photo's App. Sync to backup all photos to Google's storage cloud. In the settings of the app, there is an option to remove photos after they are backed up to the cloud. You can do this while on vacation also to keep taking photos but removing them from your storage. You can always go to the Google Photos website on the PC and find them or in the app but they will not be in your gallery after they are backed up.

I have an LG Leon phone and the tethering is grayed out?

I also have active HotSpot. I can't connect to the computer to get files off my phone and onto my computer. How can I make that happen? Thank you! What is shown in the article isn't what's on my phone. It doesn't have something called "connectivity" or Default anything. Thanks for your help! I have tried: Settings for Network to connectivity to tethering & networks in tethering, USB tethering is grayed out but Mobile Hotspot is available. I think it was caused by: Not sure why USB tethering as its called on my phone is grayed out. It's apparently not an option.

Data sharing between my PC(Win7) and my LG G2 isn't working, not with USB and wireless neither?

Hello Daniel, Michael here. I tried to connect my LG G2 with my PC via USB cable and wireless data transmission as I read about it on the internet. My Mobile used to connect with my PC automatically by putting in the USB cable. Now it doesn't connect on its own and the USB tethering option is grayed out can you help me? couldn't find the "Connectivity" option either. I couldn't find the option "Connectivity" to check off "Loading only", even switched my phone's language to English for a 1:1 relation. I have tried: I searched the Internet for possibilities to connect and found the option of a wireless connection and data transfer which seems to be out patched some time ago, searched my settings for the "loading only" box to check off but couldn't find it. I think it was caused by: Damaged cable(but it's charging my phone when connected to the PC)/ a reset of settings I wasn't aware of

Why can't I connect my LG v20 via USB to my laptop?

I asked this question and followed the instructions that came up. I can't find connectivity on my phone. I was able to connect before my granddaughter got a hold of it and did something to it. I can't find connectivity and my service DOES allow USB connections, I have done it before. I have tried: I followed the instructions on this site. I also looked for any USB settings I could find on my phone and checked hardware manager on my computer. I think it was caused by: I think my granddaughter playing with the settings on my phone is the cause of this problem.

I don't have one, but... How to enable USB for file transfer and internet connection?

I have an LG Leon that has had that problem in the past (I was searching for something else and simply stumbled across this site) but don't remember how I fixed it and I'm thinking of switching to a no-tethering plan and bypassing it so I thought I'd read this to see if it gave me any ideas/tips. Meanwhile the last comment I read (and I'm not sure of the date of these comments? I didn't look before this popup took over my screen :( ) but one solution I haven't read yet that might help your readers is that on Android... USB connections require that USB Debugging be set to ON and this MUST be changed with the phone unplugged. FYI.. Thanks anyway... I'm just giving additional advice based on my personal experiences from the past. It is necessary (on LG Leon anyway) for USB Debugging to be ON in order for one or the other of data transfer (like one reader is trying to do saying that the device doesn't show up as a drive letter) Well unless the phone has UMS mode capability it never will, but you can still use Windows Explorer to read all the files on the device and it will show up as its Device name, like LG Leon or something like that instead of a drive letter. All the directories from there will be the same as you'd expect in Windows. Also, the USB Debugging ON has to be set with the phone DISCONNECTED from the PC. After turning it on or off then plug the phone back in. I stated that above already. You keep asking for more, but it isn't applicable as-is. Could be USB Debugging is off. Alternatives are simple WiFi file transfer apps on Google Play. They open your phone's directories in a web browser and let you copy and paste just like Windows Explorer.

My LG Stylo doesn't have a "Connectivity" button?

Hi, I can't copy files from my LG Stylo to my computer anymore (It worked fine up until 2 weeks ago). However, I can charge it when the USB cable is connected. I was encouraged to see your solution but the problem is that "Connectivity" isn't a category in my settings. Is there some other place where I can uncheck "charge only? " Thanks.

You must have updated the OS within the last two weeks. Connect to the PC and see if the tethering option appears in your notification bar.

I upgraded to 4.3 on my Note3?

Now I can't get a USB connection to transfer my photos. There is no place in settings for media connect or just charge like there used to be

Put your phone into Recovery Mode and choose Wipe Cache Partition. You should always do this after a software OS upgrade to remove leftover conflicts from the previous version. If this does not solve your issue, then your USB port to the phone is out of whack. You can center it again with a toothpick.
