Officially, the "Other" section contains pre-installed system applications. However, it may also contain cache and extra data that might be deleted. First of all, check your Watch application: it may have a free film or two that you may delete to recover some space.

Install X-Plore, for example, and enable showing hidden files by tapping on the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner. Than, tap on "Configuration". Tap on "Show Hidden files". Locate the ".estrongs" folder in your internal memory. Then, you can delete everything from the folder. Warning: use this procedure at your own risk!

Then, follow the next sections in the article:

  • "Delete Unnecessary Files";
  • "Clean Your Cache" (you can tap there on "Clear Data" too).

Do not forget that you need to hard-reset your smartphone every now and then to clean up some space that is mistakenly taken by deleted applications. Press and hold the volume-down and power buttons. until the screen shows the Android logotype. Select "wipe data/factory reset", "Yes -- delete all user data", and "reboot system now" with the volume-down button. Confirm selections with the power button. Warning: this will erase all of your data.

How do I clean "other" storage huge in my HTC one SV?

Everything on my phone seems to be stored under "other". I have plenty of GBs there, phone memory + SD card. I have very few apps (because I have had to delete them all) and only a few pics. Yet my phone can do nothing and tells me I need to delete apps that only take up a few KBs. How do I delete "other". I have an HTC One SV. Thank you
