The only way you can unlock your Samsung Galaxy S5 if you have forgotten the alternative password to your fingerprint scanner is to unlock it using your Google account information. To do this, enter the wrong password up to 20 times. Your phone will then ask you for your Google account. When you enter the information, your phone will unlock to allow you to remove or change the password to something you can remember. If you don't remember your Google account credentials, follow this link to try to recover them. If you are unable to recover your Google account information, your phone doesn't ask for it, or if you never signed into an account to begin with, you will have to perform a Factory Reset. Unfortunately, this will wipe all of the data from your Samsung Galaxy S5. To learn how to perform a proper Factory Reset on your Samsung Galaxy S5, read through and follow the steps in this great VisiHow how-to article. Once the reset is complete, be sure to write down your alternative password; you'll be able to refer to this piece of paper in the future in case you forget your password again. In addition, make sure to log your Samsung Galaxy S5 into a Google account to which you know the password.

How can I use my phone again after locking and not remembering the alternative password?

My phone is a Samsung S5 Mini and I am using it with the fingerprint unlocking. It was for half a day in my pocket and for the first time so far after intending to use it after getting it from my pocket again it turned out to ask me for my alternative password. May be it has recognized wrongly some movements as attempts to unlock it by fingerprint and as it was not with my fingers it has maybe decided that there were too much attempts and have started to ask the alternate password. Unfortunately I do not remember it. Afterwards I have read that it could be solved by the Android device Manager by my Google/Gmail profile and I have followed this instructions as well. I have locked the phone successfully with changing the password with a new one - a password other than my Google one (because firstly I have tried that with my Google one). The ADM has informed me in both cases that my device is locked successfully and I have this information written also on my screen, but afterwards it does not accept the new already changed password - it takes that instead as an incorrect password and I am still not able to use my phone after some hours already of trying to change the password again and again wit the same new one by using all variants of modes like the normal one and the emergency one and by tipping with both possible keypad options I have but neither combination has unlocked my phone so far - What should I do in order to use it again (I have also restarted several times and also turned off and on again even with removing the battery and putting the battery again in place)

Once you change your password with the Android Device Manager, you get temporarily locked out of your phone for 72 hours. What you should have done was go into your Google Account on the PC to disable the 2 step verification. Now your device will be locked for 72 hours from the last attempt that you made to change the password. The only way around this is to install new ROM on the device but it USB debugging is enabled it will not be possible.

The only way to do this without your Google Account is through Samsung's Find My Mobile. If you registered an account with them previously and synced your device, you will be able to unlock from their website. Now you are missing the Google Account option on your S5 because you are not clicking Forgot Password. This will take you to your Google Account menu after 5 wrong attempts.

Pull the battery to do a soft reset. Clean the screen with rubbing alcohol before you turn the phone back on. Once you do, try your fingerprint again. Otherwise attempt your backup password until you see Forgot Password to use your Google Account.

Pull the battery to do a soft reset. Something must have touched the screen enough times while you were sleeping to trigger the KNOX counter. After the soft reset you should be able to login as you normally would.

Fingerprint stopped working for private mode on my S5. It locked after several attempts and now wants the password that I can't remember?

Fingerprint stopped working and I can't remember password. I have tried: Remote unlock using Samsung and Google accounts '

You will have to hard reset if both Samsung and Google failed. That usually means that there is no WiFi enabled for you to use to unlock the phone remotely. The apps need WiFi or data enabled. Google can't unlock your phone remotely but you can change your password. The problem is that will lock down your phone for 72 hours but at least you will not lose data with a hard reset.
