This would be because your phone does not support the HDMI cable. You will need an MHL cable or be able to download SideSync to the phone and TV.

You can with an MHL adapter and an HDMI cable. You could also use Chromecast which connects simply and can be used to stream from other devices.

How to connect my Note5 Android smartphone to my TV with HDMI port?

I connected my Samsung Note5 with the Merlin kit (HDMI convertible port), and connected it to the HDMI port 1, but I can not see my phone on the TV still. Please let me know what to do? Thank you.

With the Note5 you will need the Samsung Smart Adapter. Although it is much like your Merlin, you will, unfortunately, need to get one should you wish to continue streaming from your phone to your TV. You could also purchase a Chromecast, and as long as the Note5 and Chromecast are on the same WiFi network, you will be able to stream content. The ability to screen mirror via SideSync is also supported if your TV is compatible. Normal MHL 2.0 and 3.0 are not supported with the Note5.
